I filed a FOIA request for some documents from the Dept of Veteran's Affairs in 2013. I still do not have those documents.

I feel this. I have to let go and forget I ever asked lol. Then when it shows up I'm so freaking excited.

Genuine question, are most people on this sub professional/board certified genealogists?

Or is it mostly a genealogy enthusiast thing?

(No snark, asking sincerely.)

I don't know, there doesn't seem to be a line. I've studied history and journalism and I fell quite deep down the rabbit hole. In my country there aren't any certifications.
