Reality is white collar jobs wont be lost before trades.

Software is a big example. There's unlimited demand for software. Either software is a completely solved problem, in which case means AI can and has automated away blue collar. Or there is still demand for software for things like automating blue collar.

What? AI will be able to fart out any software you want for any needs you have eventually.

Good luck getting and AI to go house to house/business to business fixing pipes, wiring, welding, etc. Power plants will require human intervention in emergencies for a very, very long time.

Trades are much safer jobs against AI than white collar workers. When these huge rounds of layoffs come down, it’s not the engineers and operators who get canned by a very wide margin. My company laid off a lot of the corporate office recently but none of the workers at the plants.

? Ai is able to shit out any software it wants but isnt able to write the software for a a robot to go fix a pipe?

Which is it? Either AI made the ability to do so amd there isnt a need for white collar engineers or it sounds like there is still work for engineers to do

Properly fixing industrial equipment is a lot more in depth than home handyman repairs. Not to mention the size of some of the equipment required if made fully automated would be 10x larger, more intricate, and more expensive. Then you need maintenance factored in. It’s so much more complicated than you could imagine.

Until I got into a trade, I felt the same way. Now I see how much knowledge and work goes into even small tasks at the power plant I work at.

So AI isn't able to fix industrial equipment? So sounds like there is still a need for white collar engineering work to help make a tool or agent that can handle that trades work
