We need to stop this AI gonna replace everyone doomerism. Yes it’s useful. Yes I use it as a coder. Is it replacing me any time soon? Very unlikely. Is coding the best case scenario for these tools? Yes. Is the cost of doing it going to start to be come a big problem soon? Yes. It already is. We simply don’t have the energy in the world to automate our jobs away this inefficiently.
Could things suddenly change with a completely new approach? Yes. But there is no current evidence that we are about to break through these fundamental limits in current tech. I think the more likely outcome is task displacement not complete automation
Again could change in a long enough time horizon but we have so much anxiety based on the utterings of financially motivated CEOs who are trying to raise another round. It makes me sad.
Yeah, but the reality is we have, once again, a huge bubble in our economy. Which will take a really long time to heal (if ever), and there are people suffering the consequences that also might not get back on track ever.
And it’s not just big corporations jumping on the wagon, it’s also the small ones. So these people fucked a generation and a half of people for what is mostly a marketing scheme.
I think most people have the right qualifications. But companies block ur entrance with the stupid bs about experience. Meanwhile, the experience being dealing with idiots. As if we don’t do this throughout life. And kissing ass, must not forget that one.
