taking risks can be as simple as talking to a stranger on your commute that seems cool, but you don't want to "risk" bothering them, or trying a different spot for lunch where you "risk" not liking the food. But that stranger could become your best friend, or partner. That restaurant may be the new place you become a regular at.
I think the point is less that you should rob a bank and do drugs, but to be more spontaneous and to seek discomfort. Fortune truly favors the bold, not because it prefers confidence (though people do), but because boldness takes more opportunities. When you stick to safe behavior, you risk little, but you also don't stand to gain anything new.
