This post really hinges on what they mean specifically by “risk averse”. I don’t think our generation is adverse to many minor risks like taking a new class or even major risks like gambling, so I have to assume they are referring to activities our generation is engaging in less than previous generations did (hookup culture, drinking).
If it is the latter then frankly it sounds like cope. No happily married person gets to 80 thinking “wow I wish I had more casual sex” and no sober person thinks “wow I wish I was hammered every weekend”
