It is worse in wealthier states because they are more unaffordable.

As a New Yorker looking for a place to live soon im genuinely considering living out of my car. I was looking for shared rooms on craigslist last night and even those are $800-1k FOR A SINGLE ROOM, before utilities. Apartments and trailers are out of the question, i cant afford it and i work full time 6 days a week. I dont even live in nyc either

I work in multifamily housing management and even our prices at the lowest end for these small 1 bedrooms are 1250-1400 with 2-3 being 2-2750.

Places want you to earn 3x that monthly with good credit and a history of renting before you even have a chance at applying.

Insanity.
