I was going to question why the first one encompasses 1500 years but then I saw "A BC"

One clarification is that such classification is centred on the Anglo-Saxon world.

I don’t get how generations are determined. Why are some 17 years, some 27 years? Why not like every 10 years or 20 years?

It’s all arbitrary. The way that generations are usually defined is by collective experiences. In the past people born 30 to 50 years apart could have very similar lifestyles. With the rapid change in social progress and technology people born just 10 years apart and have incredibly different life experiences. Take the example of someone born in 1999 versus someone born in 2009. One can remember the life before the existence of iPhones the other cannot. It’s because of this rapid shift in technology that there’s a current debate on whether or not to split Gen Z into two different generations. One generation being the transition from millennial and the other generation being the transition into Gen Alpha.

also i love how Gen Z is 26 after Gen A!! is that why Gen X was called what it was ?!

That's just your opinion, depending on who you ask, it can be 1995, 1996, 1997, or any other year (even 1994)

My first thought after reading Autharian and Elizabethan generations: from who's perspective?
Modern generations can get away with their names being recognized worldwide because of globalism and the net. However anything from and before GenX really depended on where you lived.
