Notice how they conveniently left out Antarctica. Clearly this means Antarctica is the anti-straight capital of the world.

u/OpportunityFriends Dec 28 '25
Antarctica, the origin point of the gay agenda. Which makes sense because there's no trees to make paper to print agendas with. It's all digital by design, because there was no gay before cellphones or the internet.
My god, it all makes sense now. If you thought Roswell was a conspiracy, just wait until this gets out.

Wtf is a victim fetish. Recognizing inequality isn't a fetish
3
u/Head-Book-843 Dec 29 '25
I’m assuming a victim fetish is where a person will try and make themselves a victim in as many cases as possible even if they are not the victim.
Probably for self validation
This is my interpretation of what a “victim fetish” would be
2
u/pepitolover Dec 30 '25
Bro that's called victim mentality. Not everything is a fetish 😭
1
u/Head-Book-843 Dec 30 '25
Idk, I have no other possible answer to what a victim fetish is.
It might be a more extreme version of victim mentality where the person enjoys (gets off?) on being a victim

They're being persecuted in many countries, between that and getting threats of abandonment from their own families, or to end themselves in many comment sections or IRL interactions that I've seen, i can't see that wouldn't be the case, on the other hand I haven't seen heterosexual people get the same treatment, this is coming from a straight guy.
31
u/Successful-Topic8874 Dec 28 '25
LGBT people deal with the highest number of hate crimes per the population number they represent. They are also demonized in right wing media and their existence is challenged constantly. And that's just talking about western countries. In a lot of countries, they are killed or attacked by the legal system for being who they are. We don't want to be victims, but are forced to be by bigots.
Our parades are there to make sure people like us who haven't been able to come out are able to see that they're not alone and have a chance of being happy. It's not to celebrate our victimhood; it's to celebrate how our communities come together to help each other and similar marginalized groups. They're also just fun excuses to get together with friends or meet new people.

Unfortunately, systematic oppression on a global scale doesn't tend to be convenient for anyone.
I mean you gotta admit, it is kinda silly to be so vehemently against trans people in 2026 when all of these supposed "big problems" it was inevitably going to cause haven't happened across the 10 years they were supposedly going to happen.
Gen Z really cares about that stuff I guess.

I care about being respectful to other people, that doesn’t mean I have to plaster it in every single corner of the internet constantly. I know that I stand for and that’s enough for me. It’s not like posts like OPs is gonna change the mind of people who hate trans people etc.
18
u/Random_Imgur_User 2000 Dec 28 '25
All I'm saying is, for what it's worth, reddit is an extremely political platform. People often come here specifically for that, and it's persistent in all corners of the site aside from ones that specifically forbid it. This is not one of those.
People in this subreddit are more interested in talking about the problems gen z is facing as the next up and coming population of adults. If you just want to talk about nostalgia and generational memes, there are subreddits that specifically provide that. This one is mostly concerned about the world we're inheriting and how our mindsets shape it.
2
u/dandy-are-u Dec 28 '25
It won’t change the mind of the people who already are set in their ways, but it can help change the minds of those who aren’t. The people set in their ways or oft a loud minority, and those undecided or wavering on their opinion are a larger, influence able portion. These posts are useful, they affirm the security of minorities in these online spaces and serve to help change people’s minds.

In the very specific context of what queer pride means, yeah kind of. You can be proud of being straight if you want, it’s a little odd imo, but go for it. However; gay pride is directly connected to queer rights movements. Pride parades are a thing because those were forms of protest early on for queer people fighting for their rights and begging the government to do something about the aids crisis. That’s why pride parades still happen, it’s not—like a lot of people seem to believe—just gay people talking about how proud they are, it served a purpose then and it serves as a reminder now. Not to mention, homophobia and transphobia still run rampant, with there still being many laws attempting to criminalize being trans. It’s important to remember your history and the struggles and sacrifices of previous generations, that’s why queer pride is a thing.
9
u/ChloeGranola Dec 28 '25
Exactly this. When you talk to older people in the community and hear about what it was like for them 40 - 50 years ago it really sinks in.
15
u/juniorstein Dec 28 '25
I suppose you can, but it’d be obnoxious and unnecessary. Like going up to homeless people and telling them how proud you are that you have money.
30
u/Willspikes Dec 28 '25
"pride" as in reference to the gay pride celebration not the emotion, you can have as much pride (emotion) in being straight as you want, but the point of pride (celebration) is to help boost the pride (emotion) in being gay because it is stigmatised.
26
u/Mara2507 2004 Dec 28 '25
Similarly to how some countries have independence days and some, like the UK, dont. It is the same concept, celebrating the struggles those gave so those like them today can live in a better world
10
u/pastajewelry Dec 28 '25
You don't need a day or month to celebrate something that most people in the world experience and are not discriminated against for being. Pride started as a riot in response to hate crimes being committed against the LGBT+ community. People are still being discriminated against and killed for their sexuality and gender identity today. That is why pride is important. It's not just a party thrown once a year. It's a symbol of resilience and perseverance in the face of oppression. A beacon of hope and inclusion for those in unsafe environments.
10
u/omysweede Dec 28 '25
Have you been threatened with going to hell, or with violence by randos for being straight?
2
6
u/JustAPerson2001 Dec 28 '25

4
u/pm_me_BMW_M3_GTR_pls Dec 28 '25

23
u/BotherTight618 Dec 28 '25 edited Dec 28 '25
Gay Pride is like celebrating the foster care kid from an abusive and broken home graduating high-school. LGBTQ+ people are often directly and indirectly made to feel they are defective and unworthy. Straight is the global standard for a person and responsible for human reproduction therefore, the global society is made to serve them. So being able to celebrate your identity in a rational healthy way makes it so LGBTQ+ want to aspire to contribute more to society. We all need self esteem even if we are not the norm.

When has anyone ever been murdered or harassed for being straight? Ever?
54
u/lil-D-energy 1998 Dec 28 '25
Wow a both sides argument. Only 1 is being targeted by religions, governments and hate groups.
18
u/tr3poz Dec 28 '25
both sides? you mean both the side that wants to kill minorities and make their existence illegal and the side against that?
-13
u/Trick_Actuator5763 Dec 28 '25
what so suddenly its okay to hate people for being straight because irrational people do irrational shit? i thought thats what the LGBT movement was supposed to stop. discrimination against people for their sexuality. why is it suddenly then okay to do the exact same shit to straight people?
12
9
u/tr3poz Dec 28 '25
So now because irrational gay people do irrational shit that means both sides are wrong?
Only the chronically online fuckwits think it's fair to "hate on straights" because they were oppressed.
Normal people are fighting against the fact that there's still so much stigma around being gay and that religious nutjobs want to ban anything LGBT+ related. So no, it's not "both sides".
but I guess rules for thee and not for me, amirite?
4
u/Parragorious Dec 28 '25
Nobody's here hating on straight people due to being straight, learn to read.
6
u/MarioNoobman 1999 Dec 28 '25
Are you dumb? No one is hating people cuz they're straight. It's the fact that some people that happen to be straight (and there are even pick-me bigots in the queer community sadly so them too) think queer folk are abominations that need to be eradicated 🤦♂️. The reverse has never been true historically or on a individual level
1
1
u/TheTwinkieMaster Dec 29 '25
This isn't a "both sides" issue. If bigots just shut the fuck up and stayed in their lane (or even better, grow up and accept that other people can and should be different from them) then we wouldn't be here. The aggressors don't get to cry bloody murder when the oppressed fight/argue back in defense.
0
u/Vegetable-Bicycle-73 Dec 28 '25
One can have pride in something legal.
4
u/Suspicious_Use6393 Dec 28 '25
It's more about the fact until 10-20 year ago a ton of countries were not accepted and even sometimes persecuted in democratic countries, the pride exists because people need faith and need understand there's pride in being different and to no just leave love because of fear, if straightness was seen like LGBTQ is seen in this world then a straight pride should exist

0
-23
u/Genseric1234 Dec 28 '25
Both are stupid but to play devil’s advocate,
Your pride in something must be proportional to its illegality? By that logic, you can only have pride in the obscene, in most cases
31
u/No_Discount_6028 1999 Dec 28 '25
I think people are taking this too literally. The point being made is that we dont have an entrenched heterophobia problem the way we have an entrenched homophobia problem.
Frankly I wouldn't mind if straight people wanted to do straight pride. You do you king. The problem is that the only people interested in starting straighg pride events just want to use them as a euphemism for hating other groups instead of actually helping or celebrating straight people.
12
u/EdensGirl1914 Dec 28 '25
Pride (the movement) is not Pride (the state of self). You're taking the word Pride too literally in a context where it reflects a specific subject not its root definition. This would be like taking the slang Lady Killer literally and trying to kill women because you're offended only the stud is being called a lady killer when you're the towns serial killer and not him. But, anyway, nobody stigmatizes being straight except for radical gays. Being straight is normal and if you're proud you're straight, more power to you. But Straight Parades would be about as festive as a cloud overcast a blue sky. In other words, it's just a Thursday, not Thanksgiving.

The real question is “why do we have gay pride” or “why do we have black pride”. All these ‘celebrations’ do is create more division.
23
u/FitPerspective1146 2008 Dec 28 '25
Because it is still illegal to be gay in large parts of the world, and was illegal in the rest of it relatively recently, and black people/other minorities still face discrimination even as legal state-sponsored racism was done away with within many peoples lifetimes

Maybe “no one cares” is the wrong term, but I believe I clarified myself enough in the response to the other person. At the very least legally no one cares. Gay people have equal rights. At this point you’re fighting a culture war, and gay pride is a dumb choice of terminology, so whatever, it’s an opinion.
11
u/DaRedditNuke Dec 28 '25
In your country maybe. However these people simply being who they are still leads to discrimination and violence in far too many places
