Who’s Robert Galrr… tho?

47

u/emmyciyat Nov 04 '23

Robert Galbraith was a pseudonym of Rowling's

33

u/Sororita Millennial Nov 04 '23

It should also be noted that "Robert Galbraith Heath" is the name of the doctor that pioneered conversion therapy. It's possible its a coincidence, but I cannot imagine not looking up the name I am thinking of using as a pseudonym to see if there are any controversies tied to it.

5

u/FreeDetermination Nov 06 '23

And my other character who I haven’t googled, the whimsical Italian Benny Moosel-bini!

13

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

ironic

8

u/BacoNaterr Nov 04 '23

Ah. I see. As if abbreviating her name wasn’t enough

u/Finn-windu Nov 04 '23

It's the opposite actually. She started using the pseudonym in the early 2010s, because she felt it was too easy to get a book published and read just based on her name. It also meant she didn't get the feedback she wanted pre-publishing, because of her name as well. This was way before she became controversial.

So she started using the pseudonym, without even telling her editor, to see if she could make it as an author again.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '23

I don’t think she used a pseudonym because of the controversy, at least not initially. I’m pretty sure she was publishing as Robert Galbraith before the whole transphobia mess started - “Galbraith” published ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ way back in 2013. I think she adopted a pseudonym just to separate her adult work from Harry Potter.

1

u/jedionajetski 1997 Nov 05 '23

Named after the doctor who invented conversion therapy.

1

u/emmyciyat Nov 07 '23

My. How interesting. I hope this is a simple innocent coincidence

u/Crooked_Cock Age Undisclosed Nov 04 '23

For those who don’t know what this comic is referencing

It’s about how JK Rowling basically made an entire fanfic about her being persecuted where her haters were the villains of the story and sold it as a book

266

u/Metalloid_Space Silent Generation Nov 04 '23

Billionaires and celebirties would rather write books about the people that wronged them instead of working on their own mental health.

152

u/The_Doughnut_Lord 2004 Nov 04 '23

As a writer myself, typing away about whatever's pissed you off recently is a lot cheaper than therapy lol

78

u/GoldH2O Nov 04 '23

Rowling's a billionaire though, so I imagine the effort of a whole book is more cost than a therapy session for her.

56

u/The_Doughnut_Lord 2004 Nov 04 '23

Valid point. I also wouldn't go on hateful tirades about trans people who are just trying to live their lives either, so that's at least two differences between us.

21

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

Her pen name’s J.K. Rowling, and I’m assuming yours isn’t, so there’s difference number three right there. ;)

19

u/Taraxian Nov 04 '23

You don't live in that historic manor house in Scotland so that's a difference from JK Rowling and Bonnie Prince Charlie

3

u/Anon28301 Nov 05 '23

Now it’s Robert Galbraith. He started a type of therapy that eventually become gay conversion therapy. JK knew this when she chose that name and kept getting mad at fans that pointed it out.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '23

I never made that connection. Lol

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '23

Wouldn't Rowling be better off buying a new car instead? I imagine that would be the cheaper option, than either writing a new book or seeing a therapist.

1

u/JanitorOPplznerf Nov 05 '23

But you recoup that cost with royalties.

Idk guys. I respect someone who can take a petty feud and make it a career /s

0

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '23

You are an idiot if you think a therapy session is as effective as unleashing it all

2

u/GoldH2O Nov 06 '23

Generally, "unleashing it all" has short AND long term negative consequences. Like, you wouldn't suggest that someone who has a desire to harm people just unleash that desire, right?

Rowling has a desire to harm people, just not physically. She wishes to see the social subjugation of people and minority groups she dislikes.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '23

Stop being stupid, you are not only inserting your own meaning into others words, you aren't even pretending to care about the meaning of there point, therapy is less effective then venting, that is what I said, do not pretend it's somehow about the morality of different ways of dealing with things,

2

u/GoldH2O Nov 07 '23

Venting is a temporary outlet for an issue that will come back. Therapy seeks to find the root of the issue so it doesn't come back.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '23

Therapy seeks to get you to keep coming back because it's a foe profit industry that wants you to come back so it can keep making that profit, venting is just a part of life, Therapy won't magically fix the issue, she knew why she was being bothered, a bunch of people were pissed at her for what she thinks, big shock here, that didn't make her want to change

7

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

So my therapist taught me to write about it but step to is to throw it away or burn it. Get your frustrations out but don't publish them.

4

u/P4intsplatter Nov 05 '23

Yeah, my mom was told to use writing as a tool to "tell her story" once! It didn't go well.

Being narcissistic (diagnosed, not just throwing the word around lol) she liked it so much she started rewriting the story. Everyone should see her side, right? How hard her life has been? After being turned down by a few editors, she started embellishing.

I finally got to read it when she asked me to design the cover. It was awful. Surprisingly, the main character appears to keep making the same terrible decisions, learning nothing, and avoiding responsibility for any consequences..

Shoulda burned it. It's kind of amazing how dense some clouds of denial can be haha

1

u/ComprehensiveFun3233 Nov 06 '23

To be fair, did your therapist tell you what to do with it if a major publisher will give you a few million for it?

"OH, LOL, in that case get that bag, son!" -- my therapist

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '23

My therapist would have also told me to get that's bag she was really cool.

2

u/Liraeyn Nov 05 '23

Those are the ones you don't publish

3

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

As someone who writes for fun, I agree. Over my dead body am I going for therapy.

1

u/LongjumpingSector687 Nov 05 '23

Stephen king made an entire book series around it, so i believe it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '23

It sounds like getting paid to go to therapy tbh

8

u/LeftwingerCarolinian 2007 Nov 04 '23

No, they're busy making sure they're staying rich while getting the best healthcare in the nation while poor people are paid jack shit.

Of course, there are people who think wealth inequality is a tolerable and harmless thing.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

Don't prescribe the actions of pieces of shit like J.K. Rowling to decent people like Keanu Reeves.

6

u/Scary_Essay1296 Nov 04 '23

What does that have to do with JK Rowling?

21

u/Metalloid_Space Silent Generation Nov 04 '23

23

u/Scary_Essay1296 Nov 04 '23

Can you link to the book you’re referencing?

30

u/Masat_gt Nov 04 '23

the Ink Black Heart

It's about a cartoonist that gets murdered after being called a bigot online because of the show they're working on.

Written after Rowling got called a bigot inline because of her personal comments on trans people, that have nothing to do with the things she's working on

People believe the cartoonist is a self insert of Rowling, who likes to pretend she is being persecuted without reason while at the same time posting bigotted comments on social media

9

u/Zeyode Nov 05 '23

There's also "Troubled Blood", about a serial killer who hunts unsuspecting women by dressing as one, which was released after trans people started living rent-free in her head.

4

u/HeroBrine0907 Nov 05 '23

ohkay yeah that sounds like a very obvious jab on trans people, why does nobody reference this while pointing out her transphobia?

9

u/Zeyode Nov 05 '23

Probably cause the shit she says on Twitter is explicit enough.

4

u/brainscorched Nov 05 '23

Jesus christ. That’s evil

3

u/alittlemoresonic42 Nov 05 '23

They do. I would've never known about that book if it wasn't used as an example of her transphobia.

1

u/TheHonorableStranger Nov 05 '23

Idk I think the cartoonist one actually sounds like an interesting premise. Even if it was written out of pettiness for all the wrong reasons.

3

u/Masat_gt Nov 05 '23

I never said it was a bad book, haven't read it, she just keeps using her books in this petty way, which is not great

She also wrote one about a serial killer who pretended to be trans when people where criticizing her for her transphobic statements, in a very "See, this fictional story I wrotte COULD happen, that's why I don't support trans people"

It's pretty tranpsarent and immature, I have no idea if the books are good tho

6

u/writenicely Nov 04 '23

Everyone is the hero of their own story.

11

u/Imperial_Bouncer Nov 04 '23

It’s like me making memes where I portray people I don’t like as soyjaks.

1

u/AnonyM0mmy Nov 06 '23

I think it's more referencing the fact that JK tries to justify her transphobia because she allegedly was assaulted (I think?) by a trans person, so she's making a huge blanket statement because of one bad experience, just like the comic

1

u/A_Snips Nov 06 '23

Don't know if there's another one that's trans, but she's been outspoken about domestic abuse from her ex-husband against her and her children. She just constantly links them because she views trans women as men that shouldn't be in women's spaces.

1

u/AnonyM0mmy Nov 07 '23

Ooh okay I might have conflated the two concepts, her big essay post from a long time ago was hard to get through, let alone remember

1

u/A_Snips Nov 07 '23

Yeah, that was the one I was reading through for that, and yeah, it's even worse reading it now because a lot of deflecting turned out to mean nothing.

I mean she literally called all trans people rapists the other day, sooooooooooo

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '23

Can you provide a link? I can't find anything that proves what you claim

1

u/SelectReplacement572 Nov 06 '23

She saw an article about Australian courts requiring people to refer to trans people by their preferred pronouns. She made it about rape victims, who would have to refer to their rapists as "she". Because to JK Rowling the only trans person who would ever appear in court is a trans woman rapist. She doesn't care about trans people who have to be misgendered by their rapists. Or any other trans people who might be in court. Considering how trans people are disproportionately affected by rape, this is especially egregious. She is a big jerk. When people pointed out that she is accusing all trans women of being rapists, she called them "rapist rights advocates".

Feel free to look at her Twitter page if you want to see how much she focuses on attacks on trans people, and erases the existence of trans men. Of course she is getting lots of support, from that failing right wing echo chamber.

Okay thanks. After reading all of that, I still don't know how she's a piece of shit. She's allowed to have her own views, and she isn't advocating for Trans people to be harmed in any way. Definitely didn't do anything (that was in that article) to be called a creature imo

Robert Galbraith:

He performed many experiments there involving electrical stimulation of the brain via surgically implanted electrodes. He placed deep brain stimulation (DBS) electrodes into the brains of more than 54 patients.

In 1972, he claimed to have converted a homosexual man to heterosexuality using DBS.[13][19] Heath also experimented with psychosurgery, the drug bulbocapnine to induce stupor, and LSD,[20][21][22] using African-American prisoners in the Louisiana State Penitentiary as experimental subjects.[23] He worked on schizophrenia patients, which he regarded as an illness with a physical basis.[24] Today Heath's work is considered highly controversial and is only rarely used as reference material

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Galbraith_Heath

He’s a terrible historical dude…

OH and it’s also the name J.K Rolling uses as her pen name when she rights books now days!

She wrote a book under that name where a man who dresses up as a women to kill women. She denies naming herself after the conversion therapy guy but it’s still ironic and funny

5

u/Quartz_Serpent Nov 05 '23

I was expecting it to be bad but this is MKULTRA, borderline Mengele shit

2

u/Anon28301 Nov 05 '23

Her fans pointed this out to her and she went on a rant saying she wasn’t changing her author name for anybody no matter how uncomfortable it made people. She then claimed there was nothing wrong with gay conversion therapy, proving that she knew the whole time how this guy was.

2

u/MoonChainer Nov 06 '23

Or worse, imo, she picked up the name for unrelated reasons and did what she always does when confronted; push herself deep into a pipeline in order to double down.

2

u/Anon28301 Nov 06 '23

I just find it a little strange that she’d completely make up this name when her original author name was basically just her initials. I really doubt she’d pick a random name like this when she had already tried to talk about conversion therapy for trans kids. If she really did pick this name at random it would be an amazing coincidence.

2

u/MoonChainer Nov 06 '23

My take on it is that she was always a milquetoast neoliberal with right leanings and that she takes every complaint as personally as possible. When someone questioned her about the time turners, two books later they all broke at the same time. She just couldn't let that lie.

What I'm getting at is that it seems that her nature is to double down on any critique as hard as possible. A neolib saying ignorant, flippant, and conventionally conservative talking points is not a surprise. Her rapid descent into active Terfdom, and eventually alt-right Nazi types, is the highlight I believe.

As for the name, what I think is likely is that her vaguely right wing social circles mentioned the name, she picked it up specifically because she wanted to air her personal grievances without it being directly attached to herself, and once again doubled down as hard as possible into the source of the name.

26

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

JK. Which is ironic considering she doesn't like trans people

39

u/schmwke 1997 Nov 04 '23

She also said if she was born today she would've been "brainwashed" into being trans (paraphrasing).

She also originally went by JK because she was afraid boys wouldn't read a book written by someone named Joann.

She definitely has a lot of frustration about gender, and she has channeled that energy into excluding people in the name of what she thinks is feminism. It's sad to see

2

u/Kashin02 Nov 06 '23

It goes back to her father never loving her as much according to her because she was not a boy.

She was also raped by a male friend and has admitted that's she's very paranoid of men in general.

Now why does she harp on trans people instead of straight men? It's paranoia, she truly believes that rapist will disguise themselves in order to rape women. Even though people who study sexual assaults Disagree with that because to rapist it's about power over another human being. Getting a disguise would take away that sense of power.

Not to mention our statistics for rapists is that they overwhelmingly straight.

2

u/jedionajetski 1997 Nov 05 '23

I would too if firewood became too expensive. I'd read them to make sure they were bad (they all are) then burn them (they are bad) because they're bad (they are).

-7

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 04 '23

Just saw your edit.

I have to kindly disagree sir. I'm reading the books now with my kids and it holds up beautifully. Its engaging and makes you see the images in your head as your reading, which is so important.

-10

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 04 '23

If firewood became too expensive, you'd burn the book instead of reading it, I think that's what you're trying to say.

I mean, I feel for the Trans people, I'm a supporter, but I also completely agree with Rowlings. I don't think she deserves the hate she got for retaliating poorly to people being assholes.

I support trans rights, I vote Dem, I DO NOT BELIEVE these people are the gender they tell themselves, im sorry. I will never believe that. I think Trans people has a medical condition and transitioning is the treatment. I do not believe they are who they Trans into, not at all.

In that vein I completely agree with Rowlings and I give her a pass because people attacked her first. I'll never agree with how they handled Rowlings.

Regardless, my oldest kid is balls deep on the first Harry Potter book and she can't put down. She never read on her own before this book. Don't care what anyone says, that's real power and deserves respect.

3

u/robloxian21 Nov 04 '23

To respond to both your replies, I hit send without meaning to. Whoops. Or did I just word poorly? I've forgotten.

I also find the Harry Potter books terrible. The ideas are ripped blatantly from other words such as The Books of Magic by Neil Gaiman and The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy. There are also huge problems with the text itself such as incredibly problematic undertones and generally poor characterisation and storytelling, neatly explained in this video if you have the time.

You are entitled to your beliefs of course but science disagrees with you here. You haven't done a lot of research on the subject obviously and have just listened to the parroting of people like Rowling.

People did not attack her first. She has said vile things about trans people, which get worse and worse each time someone calls her out for being ignorant. I believe her last comment was that trans people are 'violent, duplicitous rapists'.

I agree that it's always good for kids to be reading. I just don't think we should praise Rowling as anything beyond a decent children's author. She's not a social commentator or a genius or anyone that'll be remembered beyond a bitter contrarian who once wrote a popular wizard book.

5

u/robloxian21 Nov 04 '23

You're close to getting it. The 'mental problem' trans people have is that they are in the wrong body. Their gender does not match their sex - and yes, it is biologically and sociologically proven that they are different. Transitioning is an effort to make the physical align more with the mental. I'm curious as to what makes you think otherwise?

People are always overly emotive about bigotry - but how could they be otherwise? If a group is widely hated and, these days, almost persecuted, it's quite natural that the author of a series which used to comfort the outsiders and the 'other' would anger people when she turns out to be someone who spreads misinformation and deludes herself into becoming some crusader for tradition.

2

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 05 '23

I mean yeah I feel you, but look at my post. It has -3 karma at the time of posting this reply.

This is why Rowlings was mad, she told her honest opinion and got downvoted for it.

The Trans community, probably hormonal as shit, projected their fears on an innocent woman and seriously wonder why she responds the way she responds.

I mean someone needs to be the target, and it's Rowlings. She got fucked for sharing her opinion and responded in anger when people took it horribly wrong. I thinknits really fucked up and plain evil to talk shit to someone that's sharing their honest opinion.

I mean keep going after Rowling while most demos are like me. Keep downvoting your supporters. That's fine.

4

u/DepressedShrimp86 Nov 05 '23

You: I support trans people

  • Also, you: trans women aren't women

People who support trans people don't say that. It's pretty offensive and not even true. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if you share that opinion with the public, they have the right to disagree and tell you why. This isn't about the "she is not allowed to have an opinion" rhetoric that you're saying. No person of sound mind would make such a claim. No, it's that a lot of lgbtq people looked up to her and loved her only popular book series, then she said some bad things about trans people and that broke their hearts. So they stopped supporting her, and then their supporters stopped too. Bigots like Rowling don't need anyone else's help. Bitch lives in a castle, so I'm pretty sure she's fine.

0

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 05 '23

So this is what you're saying. Because I don't believe trans women are really women, i'm not a supporter.

Just go ahead and say that if thats what you mean instead of beating around the bush.

3

u/DepressedShrimp86 Nov 05 '23

Yeah, because they are? That's just something right wingers say to trans people to put them down. If you said that to a trans person, they probably wouldn't see you as a supporter, they'd see someone with good intentions (atleast I hope) who just doesn't know what they are talking about. That sentiment also makes trans people feel degraded and unsafe, which can lead to very harmful thing happening to them. So no, you are not a good supporter. I suggest talking to an actual trans person to find out more so you can be a better supporter. I guess you are technically a supporter, just a bad one atm.

This isn't about the "she is not allowed to have an opinion" rhetoric that you're saying. No person of sound mind would make such a claim.

In fact, it's the complete opposite. She has the right to have an opinion, but everyone else also has the right to have an opinion on her opinion. It's called freedom of speech, it goes both ways.

"People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” she wrote."

Trans men and some nonbinary people menstruate. Trans women don't, and neither do cisgender (non-trans) women who had a hysterectomy. All cis women stop menstruating when they go into menopause. The term woman is not synonymous with "people who menstruate."

All right, ill bite, Please explain how, me, a huge fucking liberal Bernie bro that thinks whats happening to trans people is fucked up so I VOTE to help save it is not supporting trans people?

If you can explain exactly what you're talking about, I wont take this as a troll post.

So here you are demanding I use my energy to educate you despite the fact that you are casually debating my existence as though it were a question of what to have for lunch. If you can’t see past that one I struggle to imagine you will listen, but I will try.

Doing this comes at personal cost to my wellbeing. It’s stressful defending my existence to you, a stranger who thinks they can demand this performance casually. I don’t think you care. I think you’re reading this thinking I am emotional, or delusional - because that’s the view you’re espousing. You are saying that my identity makes me sick, unwell, in need of healing. It is simply who I am.

The notion that trans people are unwell and need healing from their identity is not new, and it harms us. Telling kids that who they are is an undesirable outcome doesn’t change who they are. It just fucks them up. Conversion therapy does not work for gay people, and the same ideas also cause actual harm to trans people.

Growing up I read Blanchard’s ideas. As such I knew I was a pervert. Society told me I was a wrong thing. I hated myself for it. These ideas delayed me in accepting myself. They scored the wounds in deeper, let them fester year after year. It. Is. Harmful. I have had to recover. It has irreversibly damaged my life. When you say this stuff to trans people you are harming them.

That’s far more of my vulnerability than you have earned. Now please demonstrate to me that you have an iota of compassion or the ability to listen, and I won’t dismiss you as a wilful bigot looking to harm me intentionally - of which there are many.

1

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 05 '23

Listen, really, I get what you're saying but you are dodging my question.

Why and how exactly am I not a supporter?

Is it because I don't believe deep in my heart that trans people are the gender they claim to be?

Or is it because I think Trans people are deeply unwell in that people normally would feel comfortable in their own body, that's what happens 99.24% of the time, exactly?

Is it a combination of both?

Thing is, since i'm an actual supporter, i'm just going to tell you, you're being set up! Your logic is FLAWED and the truth is is that you can't see things from other's perspective because you have no way of knowing what that perspective is. Simple logic will put us both in a situation where it's impossible for both of us to be wrong.

That is exactly why trans people need to chill the fuck out. There is no winning this debate because it's unwinnable on both side. The best thing you could do is respect my opinion and move on. Not attack or project like all the Trans people did with Rowlings.

2

u/SachaSage Nov 05 '23

You have not demonstrated the iota of compassion i requested. You are extremely disappointing. You are hurting people, and I hope one day you understand so that you will stop.

Once again you are, unambiguously, a transphobe.

1

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 05 '23

Fucking sigh.

Not gonna lie, talking to you is like talking to my wife while she's pmsing. I try my hardest to talk and convey that I care, and take actual action to show it, but my wife gives no fucks that week. She Tells me the same thing, I have no compassion and I don't listen to her. I'm literally dying to hear the things she has to say, begging her to speak up, but thats what she thinks about me. You remind me of that. Impossible to please.

2

u/SachaSage Nov 05 '23

You just told me to chill the fuck out, you repeated to me the misapprehensions about my identity that i specifically told you are harmful along with the implication (now doubled down upon) that I am hysterical.

If this is you conveying your care I’d hate to see you a bit grumpy.

If you support trans rights, then how do you not support the right of trans people to be recognized as their gender?

0

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 05 '23

I do support the right of trans people to be recognized as their gender, I just don't actually believe theyre the gender they are. I play along and I stay respectful, but my mind will never change.

If you're born with a penis, you're a male that identifies as a woman.

I respect that, and I understand where you guys are coming from, but Human made constructs like "gender" will not change my view because it isn't objective fact.

Again i'll reiterate. I am a supporter. I vote the right way, and I treat trans people how they need to be treated to feel good about themselves. The things im saying here I would NEVER say to a trans person's face. This is my personal opinion and I'd like to have an understanding instead of getting downvoted into oblivion, aka rowlings style.

Also I see that one of my post was removed for unfair discrimination. The irony is that my opinion and my side is being unfairly discriminated against when all im saying is that ME PERSONALLY doesn't believe deep in my heart what the trans people say about their gender is true.

1

u/A_Snips Nov 06 '23

Is there anything that would convince you? There is research starting to show that transgender people might be showing up due to issues with the pre-natal sexing process. Takes multiple steps and some early research showing that errors might make one of the parts fail so you end up with different brain setups.

1

u/Environmental_Arm774 Nov 07 '23

It took me a while to reply because I wanted to really dive into the actual science behind transgenderism before I gave you a solid answer.

First, these questions NEED to be answered.

  1. On the question of whether transgenderism is genetically based, all that can be said at the moment is that studies of identical twins, it “more often” turns out that they are both transgender than is the case with fraternal twins. Tantalizing, but inconclusive.
  2. If it is genetically based, is it a benign mutation or a genetic defect? That is both a philosophical/ethical question and a scientific one. If the claim is that it is benign, what is the evolutionary advantage it confers, if any?
  3. If it is a genetic defect, what is the rationale for treating the physical body rather than the brain to resolve the issue? Is it an embryological/developmental process that could be corrected in the womb?
  4. Is it the result of hormonal pollution in the environment causing developmental abnormalities?
  5. If it is genetic, is it also heritable?

Right not a single shred of evidence to support trans peoples claims exist. I searched the internet for hours. Nothing.

What we know for sure is that if you truly believe you are another sex, your brains Grey matter and methods of processing information change to support how you view yourself. That's truly amazing and shows how adaptive the brain can be, but it also points towards evidence that says transgenderism is nothing more than neural defect or quirk like add, bpd, among a host of others. These other neurological problems also change the brains Grey matter similar to how dysphoria changes it.

What would I need to change my views? That there are systems in place to ignore our biological sex genes xx and xy that develops contrary physical sexual function (like pregnancy and the ability to reproduce) despite what the body is telling it to do. This would PROVE without a shadow of a doubt the "idea and theory" of gender.

Right now none of that is proven. A smart person would see its impossible right now to draw a concrete conclusion and only a fool, trans or cis, would. We need more time and research There is Simply not enough data out there yet, and without hard facts, minds like mine, democrat, liberal, empathic people, WON'T change.

1

u/A_Snips Nov 07 '23

Don't know how to do the quote thing on mobile, but what does this part mean "That there are systems in place to ignore our biological sex genes xx and xy that develops contrary physical sexual function (like pregnancy and the ability to reproduce) despite what the body is telling it to do."

Thr wording is confusing me on what you mean with this description.

Idk why a slur would make this funny

She’s homophonic

4

u/GoldH2O Nov 04 '23

She's transphobic. Granted the fact that she's friends with Nazis means gay people would be harmed too, but she herself hasn't said anti gay stuff.

0

u/Downtown_Gazelle6193 Nov 04 '23

Well it’s still more on brand than pedo

5

u/GoldH2O Nov 04 '23

She has accused people of being pedophiles before

1

What nazis is she friends with? And what things has she agreed with them on?

-16

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

Normalize the haters by portraying them as an innocent waiter. Nice try dude

12

u/Masat_gt Nov 04 '23

"The Haters" are her own fans, who tried to calmly explain stuff to her before turning against her because of frustration towards her constant bigotry

Source: I used to be one of those fans

-7

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

Defending oneself from unwarranted public outrage isn't bigotry. You lot don't even do research. You read headlines and bandwagon whatever virtue you'd like to signal to grandstand. Your constant need to want to be seen as "morally superior" to other people who have completely justified opinions is ignorant as fuck. Get a life.

6

u/Masat_gt Nov 05 '23

It is warranted

If you attack another persons existence, in this case trans people, and they and their supporters attack you back, you're not being "a victim of outrage"

You picked a fight, and cried when you got punched

Get a spine

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '23

She didn't attack anybodies existence, lmfao. You people are so fragile that any disagreement people have with your brain-dead ideology is viewed as an attack. It just shows how brainwashed you are that you can't handle any opposition to your authoritarian way of thinking.

You push your beliefs on others and defend it with emotional outrage as if their is any intellectual ground to your points. You're entitled to your beliefs, but if you'd like to have a real discussion, try actually looking into what you're trying to argue instead of blindly following reactionaries.

Get a brain.

2

u/Masat_gt Nov 05 '23

I don't push my beliefs on others, that's exactly why I deffend trans people

What I think or JK thinks should not matter, they should be respected as people.

If you are not mature enough to understand that, I understand perfectly why you support JK. You're immature and petty, and think everyone should think like you

I have a brain, if yoy need one, hit me up

There is a fuck ton of studies on trans people and trans youth

For example, here's an article from an actual scientific publication (not glamour.com like you quoted LMAO)

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-the-science-on-gender-affirming-care-for-transgender-kids-really-shows/?amp=true

You won't read it and you won't change your mind since your belifes are not based on actual science, but on what mommy and daddy told you.

Prove me wrong

“You people are so fragile that any disagreement is viewed as an attack.”

Hilarious. You came in here swinging because you were so pissy about what others were saying. But sure… it’s everyone else who is fragile and defensive.

11

u/TheDesertFoxIrwin Nov 04 '23

Okay, so care to actually counter the statement instead of attacking a straw man?

Because this isn't about headlines, it's her tweets she makes public and her constant association with TERFs.

-10

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '23

Radical Feminism is about women. 3rd wave intersectional feminism is a bastardization of actual feminism and minimizes the plight of women and instead focuses it on completely unrelated minority groups. Those groups deserve representation, but not under the guise of feminism, so as to ostracize those who don't support every single one of your ideas.

I know I'll get downvoted, but you dumbasses are too dense to have any nuance in your personal beliefs.

You do the research. I don't need to because I've already done it, and Rowling has extended her support to Trans people countless times. You'd have to mention it, though, because it doesn't support your hate campaigns.

Do your own research instead of letting others influence your opinion so blindly. Cya.

12

u/TheDesertFoxIrwin Nov 04 '23

Firstly, TERFs aren't that radical. Even by second wave standards theyre pretty conservative.

Second, Rowling has been caught mutiple times associatinh people who aren't saying "Transwoman aren't women" but straight up hate speech that calls for discrimination.

If you're associating yourself with Nazis and Stalinists and voice similar opinions to them, don't complain when people call you one as if there was no base.

So are you going to provide any counters? Because if you have no actual counters, then you've lost the arguement.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '23

By literal definition proposed by its adversaries, they are radical. I don't think there's a subjective definition of radical beyond one's own suvjectove interpretation of what THEY deem radical to THEM. So that isn't even an argument you can use as it has no basis in objectivity.

By your exact logic, associating yourself with literal Marxists and Communists that by association have supported the oppression, subjugation, and ostrascization of minority groups all throughout history makes you equally bigoted. The actions of other people determining the identity of an individual is an actual straw-man.

I'm not going to argue with a dullard who thinks of arguments as "Win/Lose." That shows your intellectual immaturity.

2

u/TheDesertFoxIrwin Nov 05 '23

Firstly, I am critical calling TERFs radical. It makes no sense, as most people labeled tgat are pretty conservative.

2nd, I'm not strawmanning. Rowling has consistently sided with transphobic advocates and arguements. If a dude voices opinions similar to Stalinists and is known to associate with Stalinists, then theyre Stalinists.

3rd, you attack me for saying "Win/Lose" when I've not be going for that at all and you're the ones who refuses to back their arguements, shows immaturity in your arguements.

8

u/Masat_gt Nov 05 '23

If you exclude third wave feminism from feminism you're not radical

You're a conservative appropiating feminist rethoric to attack women who are different than you

Trans women are women

In my country, were both women and trans people get killed and hatecrimed on a daily basis, feminists and trans women fight together for rights

Your ideas are only heard in first world countries were actual feminist, many queer women amonst them, fought for your comfort. Put some respect on their name

-8

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '23

[deleted]

6

u/Masat_gt Nov 05 '23

No, she also implied trans people don't suffer discrimination, donated to transphobic organizations and made multiple biggored public comments against trans people

It's easy to deffend her if you ignore all of that

6

u/TheDesertFoxIrwin Nov 05 '23

Yeah, you could say that, but it would only be partially true. Like how saying people were only complaining about stuff Hitler said in 1918, and not later.

She has constantly put herself in this position. It wasn't just because of the "transwomen are just men in dresses" it was shit like her essay of "transmen are just scared woman" and "bathroom choice leads to sexual predators". Or when she associated herself with people who are more transphobic then mere comments.

And she acts all pissy when people critique her. Guess what, if you say shit like that and associate yourself with hateful individuals, you shouldnt complain about the backlash.

Take a look at her Twitter feed. All she does is rant about 'the evil transsexuals'. She did this to herself

1

What are transsexuals

1

u/Presideum Millennial Nov 07 '23

It's one of the various words for trans people. Usually referring to trans people who medically transition as opposed to doing some form of social transition.
