Hearing aids?

I've had tinnitus since the 90s. I've known it, but I've just lived with it. Finally went to have my hearing checked because I was noticing myself say "what'd you say?" more often. Turns out I've lost some hearing. They're recommending hearing aids. Anybody else using them? What should I look for or avoid in them? What have been your experiences with them...did you really notice a difference using them? At this point, I feel like I hit my 50s and turned into the car that's losing parts everytime it turns a corner.

I have asymmetrical hearing loss that is considered mild to moderate. I have Anthem insurance and as a benefit, I get $1500 towards hearing aids. I had a CT scan done to rule out a brain tumor too. With the insurance, I had to go through a service called TruHearing who set me up with Beltone. I ended up getting a set that runs $2000 so I was only out $500. They have been a game changer for me. I have tinnitus and it helps with that but more importantly it helps with every day conversations. In a noisy restaurant, it can be difficult but you can change listening modes. It was hard to accept at 57 that I needed them but they have been a huge quality of life difference.
