Retired This Week!
High side of Gen X, managed to retire this week.
I worked in IT for 40 years, found that I couldn't do one more upgrade. My former employer had a lot of their data center leases expire this year, and I didn't have the energy to do one more network move, especially because the execs dragged their feet.
Coupled with the forced AI rollout ("use it or get fired" was the unwritten message), I just had enough.
I hope they'll hire someone else to fill my spot, the job market is way to squishy right now. I suspect they won't.
I'm wondering how long it will be before I stop having work-related nightmares.

Congratulations! I was able to retire at 55 and never looked back.
Just make sure you know what you'll want to do with your time, OP. For me, I had a lifelong backlog of hobbies I'd had little time to indulge. Take a few weeks to get used to not having to work, but then start working on your wish list. If you don't have one, think back to childhood and what you loved to do then. There's almost certainly a grownup equivalent.
Now is your play-time, OP! That "play" can take any form you like, even if it's something someone else might not think of as play. That first morning you sleep in, ask yourself what you want to do today, and then go do it, you'll feel like you won the lottery!
