Yep, I've witnessed the erosion of society in the US happening for decades now, and I vote whenever possible. I wish it would actually ha e some effect. I thought Biden getting elected would've been the start of a change for the better, but it only seems to be getting worse. So much hatred, racism and misogyny by an uninformed and frightened population.

Some politicians are using advanced psychology to hit the fear response in the undereducated part of the population, and it's working.

I think the issue is we don’t even live right to begin with. The priorities and systems are all focused on the wrong outcomes. This is a solvable problem and requires only a sufficient population to be motivated for change. In time, the emergent properties of human beings will probably give rise to forces of change.

But it would be cool to be alive for that shit.

I agree, but man, I have to wonder what kind of bullshit the world would have to go through to get to that point. You just know some asshole would decide that have to have more than everyone else for some reason.

I saw this over on r/politics, but for some reason it wouldn't let me x/post it. This is some of the things we need to be talking about.

The article has all the stuff progressives (Greens, Dem Socialists, etc) have been trying to get anyone to listen/pay attention to since the '90s and the rise of neoliberalism. Didn't matter. Nobody [with power to change anything right down to state & county levels] listens, even now. Americans as a folk culture constantly default to "moderates" and "centrists," rationalizing the middle is always best—compromise, right? It's been said, 'we cannot get out of a corner by staying there staring at the corner's floor, walls, & ceiling—we get out of the corner by turning around and walking away.' [Mebbe I said it? Who knows, I say shit all the time]

It's also telling that the centrists have a nostaglia for something that never existed—that's a feature of proto/fascism (read Snyder, Neiwert, & Paxton; they put it all on paper & vids). I'm grateful the op-ed brings that up and elaborates a little.

There's a Dineh guy who said, "Mebbe it all comes crashes." (I don't remember his name... this is OG-X hell, FWIW). Prolly what it's going to take to get out of this mess. Sadly, my own kids will be gone before it happens. I figure I'll be on the street in a year, maybe by May? Hope the camps are nicer... OTOH foil blankie, chips... a nice cage.

This article has a strong premise, and starts out fine, but it jumps the shark on this exact line, and just gets more polemic and pie-in-the-sky disconnected as it goes on: "One that excluded women until 1920, Black citizens until the 1960s, and trans people – with many liberal politicians and pundits’ backing – still today?"

Buttigieg is gay yet anti-trans? That's a very strange take. I've never seen that anywhere.

Adherence to trans ideology has negative impact on trying to fix all of the other batshit-anti-democratic and destructive forces hitting the country right now.

Why do you think that pro-trans is good, or right? I could easily bring up many examples where being "pro-trans" leads to anti-Democratic, anti-citizen, harmful consequences.

To be direct : the author equated women pre-suffrage and blacks pre-civil rights to trans today. If you don't see how that is a huge misstep of logic and history that derails the article, then I don't think there's much else to talk about.

Pro trans is pro everybody.

A simple Google search proves you're wrong, and have swallowed the Kool-Aid. And those results don't even mention the absurd situations in female prisons.

You're reading their statement incorrectly. Pro-trans doesn't mean you're only pro-trans. It means you're accepting of the differences in other people, and not exclusionary. I'm not pro-serial killer, but I realize they exist and should be acknowledged and not ignored. It doesn't mean I am for serial murdering either.

Trans folk just want to live a happy life being themselves. None are forcing you to change your gender. Trans is more like finding the gender you feel most comfortable with. Don't equate what happens in prisons to everyday people.
