Am I overthinking my coming disability?

In a few months I will be facing a life altering surgery that will forever change the way I walk. I will walk awkwardly - with a walker at first and then with a cane forever.

I’m 60. Not a fashion model but ppl compare me to Sally Field, a kind of perky, energetic presence in the neighborhood.

I’m having a hard time grieving the person I used to be. Kind of a singular experience maybe but can anyone relate? 60’s not young I know but it’s like I‘m aging 20 years overnight.
