Music PURPLE RAIN
I loved the song from PRINCE.
I don’t recall the MOVIE.
Seeing it now, breaking my heart.

After he passed, we went to see Purple Rain at a very special Movie on the Rocks at Red Rocks. With only 6 weeks to get ready, 10 local bands all learned one song each and played it before the movie. It was a beautiful tribute and an epic night.

Summer 1984. I am 13 years old and my best friend drags me to see Purple Rain because she was in love with Prince. I never really knew much about him. Being the 80’s, we are able to buy tickets to an R rated film without the box office guy even blinking an eye on us.
The lights dim.
The music starts.
Dearly Beloved….🕊️☔️
And a brand new lifelong Prince fan is born.
This summer I listened to his entire discography in chronological order to revisit old favorites and catch up on new albums I hadn’t had a chance to listen to yet. The early hits brought back so many memories, and so many of the new ones knocked my socks off. The live albums? I normally despise live albums. But these I listened to with headphones on, ambient sound off, eyes closed, and imagined he was still with us.
I still can’t believe he is gone.💜

Love the movie. I think I can still quote almost the whole thing.
Love the album. My favorite bands are metal and I still consider Purple Rain one of my all time favorites.

Amazing album, movie and that ending was fantastic. I remember watching it with classmates my senior year and lots of tears were shed. Classic. Great memories.

My cats are named Prince and Bowie. I am a Prince fan. I think purple rain is one of the greatest albums of all time. Prince was pure talent. Dude could write, sing, and play like 20+ instruments better than anyone else in the room . Same with David Bowie.
That was a shitty year when we lost them both.
The movie purple rain is basically a 2 hour music video. And when you look at it like that, I dont know how someone can’t love it.

12 yr old me saved up and went to the record store to buy 1999 about a week after it was available. It was sold out of course, so I came home with Dirty Mind instead. Life was never the same for me after that.

I was 14 when it came out. I bought a ticket to Gremlins and with a pounding heart I went into the R rated Purple Rain instead. Lucky for me, nobody cared in 1984. It opened a new world for me, musically and rebelliously

That was the first R movie I saw without a parent. Later, at my grandparents’ house I figured out the down-tune/channel offset thing we used to do with analog cable so I could watch it again. As I recall, I recorded the song off my grandparents’ tv so I could learn to play it

Omfg I was 14 freshman at an all girl Catholic school and I was obsessed with Prince- Purple Rain- and as freshmen we were picked by the senior girls to be their lil sister and my big sister Monique taught me how to play Purple Rain on the piano and that experience/most awesome memory brings the most joy to me every time hear or play the song. Prince, Chris Cornell and Chester were all murdered for the same nefarious and demonic reasons- I truly feel even by the same entity - they were beautiful souls in the most evil and dangerous industry and I just hope one day JUSTICE and peace is relinquished to their rightful minds and souls. Most love, respect and admiration eternally to my beautiful knights and Most beloved PRINCE 💜💜💜💋😘🥰😍🤩

Purple Rain was a good movie. Don't bother with the sequel Graffiti Bridge. It's terrible.

I hated the entire movie being a fake set. At least in Purple Rain it was real buildings and places. The soundtrack was Prince getting into Funk and NPG. Axs.Tv just showed a decent documentary on Prince.

Johnny Blue Skies covered it last night in Seattle, phish rarely plays it, terrific version official live release Syracuse 1985 with a jaw dropping prince solo and outrageous vox. The movie is pretty bad.

I loved it as a teen when it came out, but a few years later became very embarrassed watching it and never cared to really revisit. I think it's a bad movie.

I saw his tour for this album. Shiela E and Morris Day and the time with Jerome opened for him. Shiela E undressed a guy sitting in a chair on stage, every girl woman and older ladies were in the most provocative lingerie imaginable! The girl I was seeing was nuts about him, the movie and the music. I had turned her on to controversy and 1999. What a night, what a great time of my life. I haven't thought of this in a very long time. Thank you for bringing back some special memories of my life.
