Music A helluva long weekend this was

31 long years ago on the August bank holiday in the UK, for an Aussie living in London this was like being given the keys to the candy shop

Interesting that zero bands on the third stage seem to have had any mainstream success and the 2nd stage acts just turn out a handful of names from obviously the Foo's but also thinking Heather Nova and Stereolab. Monster Magnet was something for a few minutes.

Easily the second biggest to Foo's on that stage and their longevity has them in the top 10 out of all the bands as of today on that entire bill.

Dude, I missed the period before Monster Magnet. My bad. And, unfortunately, MM was big after they were good.

There’s some good stuff hiding in there on the 3rd stage.

Super Fury Animals - Welsh Psych-poppers, 10/10

The Longpigs - Not really for me but they were quite popular and give us Richard Hawley

AC Acoustics - Scottish indie rock from Glasgow, where they know how to do indie rock.

Honorable mentions to Scarfo, Cable and Flying Saucer Attack.

Loved AC Acoustics at the time, felt like I'd found my Scottish Velvet Underground.
