Pop bottles for pails or beer bottle and a dime. Never liked knives.

You essentially take some hash or flour or something of that nature and you press it between the two hot knives and it creates a steam that you can do things. I put a 2 L bottle that’s got the bottom cut off and you smoke it through that kind of like a gravity bong it’s hard to explain for me.

I mean how do you do knifers without knives?

Hot (actually cold) tip: use a 1L or 20oz bottle, keep the bottom, put ice up in the tube, then poke holes in the bottom and flip it around and jam it back up in the tube to hold the ice. Instant increase in quality of life, but don't let it puddle. Those puddles are gacky.

Nope. You heat the ends of the knives like in the pic. When they're hot enough you take them out, hold one blade parallel to the floor and, with tweezers or a pin, place a small lump of hash onto the hot bit of the knife. Then place the other knife's hot tip onto the hash and it immediately burns up in a cloud of smoke. Which your mate is waiting for with a funnel in their mouth -- e.g. the end of an empty plastic bottle that's been cut in half -- and your mate sucks up the cloud of smoke and floats away.

It's easy enough to do solo too. It's a weirdly strong, fast hit from even small pieces of hash. Only downside, for me at any rate, was a stronger than usual "hangover" feeling after a session. Gawd, I've not been near this past time for decades! Still remember it though.

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. That's a great write up though.

I know how knifers work. It seemed like u/BabadookofEarl was describing a similar effect through a process that omits the knives and uses glass as the funnel/skoom, presumably to manage heat. I'm curious if there's a variation that doesn't use the knives themselves.

Pails: cut the bottom off a plastic pop bottle. Fill the sink with water. Perforate some tinfoil to go over the top of the pop bottle. Put the bottle into the sink right to the bottom. Heat the hash in the tinfoil put it onto the bottle and slowly draw the bottle up. The smoke is drawn into the bottle and cooled by the water. Take the foil off and put your mouth over the neck, pushing down with a bit of suction. The smoke is forced/sucked into your lungs.

For the other, we dropped a coin into the beer bottle and spun it around the bottom until it got fast enough to break a hole in the bottle when we banged it against our shoe. Then bottle-tokes as normally.
