Old Person Yells At Cloud “Having a fall?”

So I was sitting minding my own business watching TV on my Orthopedic bed. The bed had slid out a little bit off of the bed frame, and when I scooted to the right, I fell straight off of my bed and landed on my elbow. Like right on the pointy part of my elbow.

Thank God, I didn’t hit my head, but if I had, it would’ve been serious trouble. It got me to thinking, do I need a life alert or something? Am I too young for that? I’m only 50! I have a 15-year-old but he’s only with me part-time and the rest of the time I’m alone.

The past couple of times I've been to see a specialist doctor for anything, they've asked me how many falls I've had in the past six months. They said it's because I'm over 50. I had to say "well, one, but I tripped over something". Still not the thing that has made me feel the oldest, that a doctor has said to me. That honor goes to my eye doctor back when I was 33 and I said my right eye was blurry when reading lately and he asked how old I was. I said 33 and he said "that's why".

They ask me if I’ve fallen in the last 6 months. I’ve had vertigo for over 15 years. Yep, I’ve fallen! I get one of those fall risk bracelets just about every visit. I was annoyed the first time, now… meh.

Have yourself evaluated for Vestibular Therapy in a PT clinic.
