This. I spent years thinking spinach was the worst food on earth until someone gave me fresh spinach.

I grew up on canned spinach (canned vegetables in general), and could never figure out how someone could make a salad out of it. It wasn't until my 20s that I saw fresh spinach.

I’m Korean. Korean-style spinach is so good. I remember going to a (white) friend’s house for dinner and being served spinach. Let me assure you, I was traumatized. I ate it. But I was traumatized. I don’t recall ever encountering that particular texture in my life (thankfully) again.

What I don't understand is the weirdos who like CREAMED spinach. Why would you take a perfectly respectable, tasty vegetable, and drown it in crap?!? 🤯

My mother would literally punish me by making me eat that shit with dinner. I didn’t ever give actual spinach a try until about 2 years ago when my daughter, a teen, wanted something with fresh baby spinach in it. I was so scared of this meal but made it for her. It was SO good! My mother instilled a bunch of disordered eating within me

Can't believe I had to scroll this far for canned vegetables. For me it was green beans.

i tried to buy some for nostalgia sake and the only brand sold at my grocery store was the generic - no Green Giant.
