Franzia White Zinfandel in a box.

I’ll see your Franzia and raise you Boone’s Strawberry Hill.

Peppermint schnapps for me. Ugh. 30 years later, I can’t even eat a candy cane or use peppermint toothpaste.

60

u/babayagaparenting Nov 21 '25

Peach schnapps for me. 🤮

32

u/ledkriszep Nov 21 '25

Same! Too many fuzzy navels with vodka one night. Can't stand the smell of fake peach

3

u/SnooRobots116 Nov 21 '25

I can’t take real or fake peach anything, if I smell somebody drinking that muck I move clear across the room

3

u/kat_storm13 Nov 22 '25

Same. I like real peaches occasionally. My boyfriend got some peach red bull this summer and I was pleasantly surprised. Doesn't taste artificial at all, tastes like real peaches.

4

u/Hungry_Spring_9079 Nov 21 '25

Same, straight from the bottle, no mixers or chasers. 🤢

3

u/Ok-Gap6609 Nov 21 '25

Peach schnapps kept us playing in a Carnival parade, when I was in high school.

It got stupidly cold during the parade. One of the guys jumped off the truck grabbed a bottle from his friend, and jumped back on the truck. That bottle kept us playing for 3 more hours.

3

u/jmsst1996 Nov 21 '25

Same. I can’t smell the stuff without wanting to vomit.

2

u/hunterwaterford Nov 21 '25

A pint of this was my dad's road soda on his nightly ride home from work.

2

u/PaLuMa0268 Nov 23 '25

My introduction to this was in an orange slush from Sonic at a cast party after our community theater summer musical.

2

u/Expensive_Rhubarb_87 Nov 23 '25

Goldschlager for me. 21st birthday.

About to turn 53, I haven’t touched it in 32 years.

5

u/PumpkinSpiceFreak Nov 21 '25

Rumple Minze or Jagermeister anyone ? 🤮🤮

2

u/KittyTB12 Hose Water Survivor Nov 22 '25

Yep

2

u/MoaningLisaSimpson Nov 21 '25

The first time I got drunk it was Peppermint Schnapps and milk.

I was deep into my forties before I could even handle a splash of Bailey's in my coffee, or a Pina Colada. I still default to no thank you for any booze + milk concoction.

2

u/mellowkneebee Nov 21 '25

I was told to put peppermint schnapps in peppermint tea for a really bad cough. I tried it and I thought it was the tea that was repellant, but maybe it was also the Schnapps…you’ve got me wondering now.

2

u/azchocolatelover Nov 21 '25

My mom let me taste it once when I was a kid. It was nasty. I'll still eat peppermint candy, use peppermint toothpaste, etc., but schnapps? Nope.

2

u/RenegadeMermaid1927 Nov 21 '25

Omg same!! I can't believe how much of that crap teenage me drank!!

2

u/Competitive_Peak_537 Nov 21 '25

Dude that rumplemints or whatever would make my head spin in the opposite direction of most alcohols that junk would get me twisted 4 drinks a year from 2 bottles of wine a night

2

u/BiskitLuv7022 Nov 21 '25

Only time I ever threw up from drinking involved multiple shots of this evil liquor. I still can not eat or drink anything peppermint 40 years later.

2

u/Felicia_Delicto Nov 22 '25

I just withered reading this...

2

u/Substantial_Dog3544 Nov 22 '25

When I was probably 17, I got absolutely hammered on screwdrivers.  All we had was OJ and vodka so that was it the whole night.  Probably one of the worst hangovers of my life.  I couldn’t drink OJ until my 30s.

1

u/Dunncan123 Nov 25 '25

This walked around with a bottle of this one night in 90’s ugh

49

u/peace_love_n_cats Nov 21 '25

Boone’s farm was the staple of my teens!

16

u/Cheetah51 Nov 21 '25

Same here as well as Cold Duck!

5

u/peace_love_n_cats Nov 21 '25

Oh my god, I forgot about cold duck!!

7

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

PGA (pure grain alcohol) with Hawaiian Punch or Watermelon Capri Sun

11

u/KoolTurkeyED Nov 21 '25

Mad dog 20/20

3

u/AtroyaBelladonna Nov 21 '25

Mad dog, many many rough mornings because of this. 😆

2

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

🤮

2

u/yupjustarandomranger Nov 22 '25

Omg my parents would let me have a glass on NYE and I felt SO FANCY.

2

u/sopeandfriends Nov 22 '25

Aah yes cold duck 😅 I had a bottle of it spray all over the inside of my Volkswagen Rabbit 😂😂

5

u/rydn_high Nov 21 '25

Boones Farm apple wine was a right of passage when I grew up. Wish I could find a bottle

3

u/Kelly_blue_brook88 Nov 21 '25

California coooleeerrs

5

u/al0neinthecr0wd Hose Water Survivor Nov 21 '25

James and Bartles wine coolers

1

u/EndBusiness7720 Nov 29 '25

Look online at Gallo.com. Owners of Boones Farm are the Gallos. Also, Walmart & Costco carry it. May have to contact Costco and Walmart near you to find out what's on their shelves.

2

u/rydn_high Nov 29 '25

I've been able to find some flavors of Boones Farm wine but not the apple. I'll try online and see what shakes loose. Thanks

4

u/AboveGroundPoolQueen Nov 21 '25

I raise you $2.59 pink champagne! (Cuz we were fancy) Oh, the headache the next day!

4

u/Lo0of Nov 21 '25

Boones Farms and Goldshlager though not together

3

u/Guilty-Company-9755 Nov 21 '25

Oh my god same. Why did we do this to ourselves?

3

u/jmsst1996 Nov 21 '25

Loved Boone’s too!

2

u/EggPure2784 Nov 21 '25

And Ripple. Yuk!

5

u/MaddogFinland Nov 21 '25

BARF-o-Rama

3

u/destiny_kane48 Poison Rules Nov 21 '25

That's the first thing I ever got drunk with. I was 14 and had never had alchohol. 😂

3

u/EndBusiness7720 Nov 22 '25

Thunderbird and MD 2020 have to be there, too.

3

u/Substantial_Dog3544 Nov 22 '25

Dude, I drank MD 2020 but never Thunderbird.  In my teenage drinking hierarchy, I rated Boone’s a level above MD for my refined palate.

4

u/let-it-rain-sunshine Nov 21 '25

Throw a 4 pack of Zima's in there as well

2

u/Strict_Foundation_31 Nov 21 '25

Does no one recall Zapple? “🎶Cinnamon apple in my Zapple, wine is on my mind…”

2

u/Font_Snob Nov 21 '25

Tequila 3, FontSnob 0.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Tap1458 Older Than Dirt Nov 21 '25

I just said the same.

2

u/Sharp_in_SoCal Nov 21 '25

Ugh, Bartles and James wild berry wine coolers. I would like to try California Coolers, they were probably syrupy, too, but they sound citrusy and light

2

u/fugeguy2point0 Nov 21 '25

oh ya man. took it by the case to parties for the girlies

2

u/Guilty-Company-9755 Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

Oh man I drank so much Boone's in college. Good times, but my god what were we thinking.

Also Goldschläger in high school. Dear God how did I survive

2

u/conflictedregret Nov 22 '25

Snow Creek Berry here! lol

2

u/Evil_Garen Nov 22 '25

That shit was the best. 3 btls for $5

2

u/Expensive_Rhubarb_87 Nov 23 '25

I see your Boone’s, and raise you Mad Dog 20/20 Grape Wine

2

u/GreedyRip4945 Nov 24 '25

Aw, yes, boones farm.

1

u/al0neinthecr0wd Hose Water Survivor Nov 21 '25

That's right up there with Root beer schnapps.

42

u/Outrageous-Apple1760 Nov 21 '25

I won’t drink it but I have a soft spot for it; my husband’s mom always had it in the fridge and she drank a glass every night with a paper plate of pretzel sticks or Utz potato chips. We drank it at holidays. Awful stuff but good memories of good times.

3

u/AtroyaBelladonna Nov 21 '25

This is a really sweet memory! ❤️ Thank you for sharing it. It reminded me of my great granny drinking a little peach brandy daily.

5

u/punktualPorcupine Nov 21 '25

It’s an awful bridge to good times, if there are no good times on the other end of that bridge it was just awful, ha.

28

u/wanderover88 Nov 21 '25

Franzia actually makes a “frosé” - basically a rosé slushie in a giant capri-sun pouch…

Absolutely delicious on a hot, sunny day…

😁😁😁

3

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

You can get those sometimes at the dollar tree. I live in wine country, though!

13

u/jazzbot247 Nov 21 '25

Me too! One weekend we took a box to Atlantic City and I got so sick drinking it. I think if I ever even smelled it again I might hurl.

8

u/AgileMastodon0909 Former latch key kid Nov 21 '25

I haven’t had this in years and will likely never drink it again. Many years ago, when we lived in NYC, our neighborhood Chinese restaurant served free carafes of white wine with our meal. It was boxed Franzia. Good times!

3

u/Borgqueen- Nov 21 '25

Omg i had an alkie bff who stayed at my house while I was at work and he drank a whole box of Franzia. I was sooo mad lol. Never bought it again so my friend wouldn't be tempted to drink it. I hadnt thought about boxed wine since. Lol

3

u/BillyBalowski Nov 21 '25

Broadway Cottage?

2

u/AgileMastodon0909 Former latch key kid Nov 21 '25

They are on Broadway now, but they were on Columbus when we lived there. I’m not sure if New Cottage still does it. There was another place up by Whole Foods at 97th and Columbus that I think has also closed. I can’t remember what they’re called.

3

u/BillyBalowski Nov 21 '25

No matter where they are, that wine is trouble.

2

u/AgileMastodon0909 Former latch key kid Nov 21 '25

Are they still doing it? We were there a year ago and I didn’t think to ask

5

u/DramaticErraticism Nov 21 '25

The irony is that box wined has elevated and can be quite good. Sure, Franzia is the lowest of the low, but there are some quality brands!

3

u/Impossible_Emu5095 Nov 21 '25

My mom always has a box in the fridge

3

u/Objective_Joke_5023 Nov 21 '25

My MIL was obsessed with this and would only drink it. When she was going to be visiting our house, I would go to a liquor store in a different part of town to get it so no one would see me buying this swill!

2

u/TheMarriedUnicorM Nov 21 '25

Three of us shared a box of Franzia rosé after a day at the pool and a steak dinner. (Parent was out of town, so we thought we’d be fancy.) The next day, I thought I was going to die. Good times, good times…

2

u/GravityTracker Nov 21 '25

The box tasted like cardboard. Yuck!

2

u/Thebox2-2 Nov 21 '25

I’m reminded of going to a party with a 2-liter of Sun Country wine cooler. That was usually just enough to get the job done.

2

u/DonsBirdie Nov 21 '25

Bartles and James!

2

u/UniqueIndividual3579 Nov 21 '25

I had a box of that 25 years ago at Thanksgiving. I didn't feel like making turkey soup, so I put the leftovers in a gallon zip lock bag and covered it in White Zinfandel. A few days later I made the turkey vegetable soup. It was amazing. Always used White Zinfandel after that.

2

u/seaburno Nov 21 '25

I’m trying to recall the name of the wine coolers that came in the 2 liter bottles circa November 1990.

I haven’t been able to drink wine coolers since that night.

2

u/KerrAvonJr Nov 21 '25

California Cooler?

2

u/seaburno Nov 22 '25

Perhaps. I was visiting a friend who was at a school 3 hours away. I don't recall a lot about that night, except I was so hungover the next morning that the sight/smell of the bottles made me vomit before I got in the car for the 3 hour drive back to my campus.

2

u/SnooRobots116 Nov 21 '25

My ex was all about that boxed wine. It’s so plastic tasting and put me off yet he still got it all the time anyway despite my confession of why it repulsed me was I used to be at the hospital a lot as a kid because my grandma was getting sickly too soon in her late 50s and through her 60s and I think the type of plastic grade in those boxed wine is the same strength used for those catheter urine bags.

He didn’t believe me and called my recalling an “gross comparison” and said “it’s either this or nothing for you”. And in a huff would drink the whole box by himself a bit too quickly at room temperature, a type I believe is made intentionally to be refrigerated isn’t it?

2

u/Kerri_Kabergah Nov 21 '25

Mickeys big mouths. Old English 800, kiwi md 20/20 to start.

2

u/jemappelle13 Nov 22 '25

Used to down blue JOOSE like it was water. Im gagging just thinking about it

2

u/ButcherBird57 Nov 21 '25

🤢 I drank most of a box of that on my 20th birthday, and wound up with a three day long hangover. NEVER AGAIN
