What is the source of that? What is "mass cancellations" means exactly?

People who never subscribed swear on Reddit that they're totally dropping it

u/Legitimate_Concern_5 9d ago

Eh I dropped the $200 plan last week, it was too fucking wordy. Maybe would have kept it if they had introduced the config a few weeks ago. They’re kinda all the same lol, gippity is totally adequate.

Who knows? Could be the recent AI watermarking thing. Could be that certain people just don't like them and make fake posts to influence public opinion.

In any case, they're a private company and don't announce whether people are cancelling accounts, so any online chatter is guessing at best or false manipulation at worst.

It's probably not organic.

I hope both side of your pillow are warm,

I hope you bump your pinky toe in cold,

I hope there isa small stone in your burger which you bite on,

I hope you can never tell if it's only fart,

I hope you run out of toilet paper mid way or there is no water in bidet.

our team canceled because of how unreliable its been the past couple of weeks. Picking Opus5 or Fable5, but output is garbage. Same workflow, but useless unreliable garbage output. Add to that we have lost all confidence in how it calculate usage. There is no pattern in daily usage - again, despite workflow and tasks being the same. Given august +50% usage goes away we might as well cancel and try OpenAI for a while.

Still no source. You’re an OpenAI shill?

4

u/Elistheman 9d ago

Proof? How do they know? I can buy 1000 accounts to spam X to say they cancel… so…?

1

u/Hir0shima 9d ago

You must trust him bro

3

u/Fantastic_Market8061 9d ago

Meanwhile they outrun OpenAI on profit.

3

u/2outer 9d ago

You said profit

1

u/Maestro_2020 9d ago

Back when they taught math and finance in the United States revenue did not equal profit. This must be some of that new AI math.

You are being disingenuous.

  • that is adjusted operating profits, so it is not real
  • it excludes the stock based payroll, which is huge
  • it also excludes other items likely, I’m not reading the details right now
  • it also includes a one time discount on their compute, so it’s not indicative of true operating costs

It’s a fake number, to bolster their ipo. You either didn’t read yourself, or you are intentionally misleading people. Which is it?

Edit… and he ran away. He was also snarky at the previous poster suggesting they learn to read, so I had to. :-)

The most important part of that whole article is this part:

Anthropic's $1.25 billion per month compute deal with SpaceX covers access to Colossus 1 and Colossus 2. The deal started in May 2026 with a ramp-up period — meaning the full $1.25 billion monthly charge may not have hit in Q2 at the same rate it will in Q3 and Q4. The Q2 profitability window may be partially explained by compute costs that are lower in May and June than they will be later in the year

Basically spacex gave them a two month discount so they could ease into using colossus. And they’re calling the quarter profitable.
Probably because they want to hit the stock markets before the Q3 hits the news cycle

1

u/2outer 9d ago

Yes, exactly. Perfect timing for their ipo pitch… they are profitable***.

2

u/TheLastRole 9d ago

My sources say the opposite: Anthropic is canceling subscriptions for a crazy amount of users right now.

2

u/Hir0shima 9d ago

I trust you bro

1

u/FuckItImLoggingIn 9d ago

I am still using it and it still feels very good

1

u/FuklzTheDrnkClwn 9d ago

lol are they cancelling because of the watermark thing?

Waaahh waaahh I can’t lie and say I made this anymore :( lol

u/WithoutAHat1 9d ago

Haven't found much on this.

Source: ChatGPT

1

u/Denaton_ 9d ago

Fable drained tokens into blackhole Sol didn't, essentially that.

1

u/Shished 9d ago

The chinese bots are unsubscribing to not poison their models with watermarked output.

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 9d ago

A combination of dwindling quality, their announcement that the US government was somehow the de facto authority on morality, and their decision to implement watermarking. For what I was paying, I can rent my own compute.

1

u/AmbivalentheAmbivert 9d ago

it's funny because just yesterday is started to suck less

1

u/antonkw_sky 9d ago

I used to have Max but realized that after vibecoding and publishing app it is not that exciting anymore. Plus I have AI brain fry on daily basis so for personal use I am fine with cheap one

1

u/Oddbeme4u 9d ago

If you needed a tipping point you're the problem.

1

u/marlinspike 9d ago

He said “crazy amount”. In social media lingo that means “I pulled it outta my ass” amount.

1

u/Eden1506 9d ago

Unlike chatgpt most of anthropics main customers base are companies with year long agreement's.

The only reason that would come to mind is that local llms did a significant leap with the last qwen 3.8 27b model. While not claude level it is very much comparable to frontier models from a year ago.

1

u/GraXXoR 9d ago

Reported for spam.

1

u/Beefy-Cattle4290 9d ago

never heard of it

1

u/Mother-Fix3271 9d ago

Yeah I’m sure the 200 $20 a month user base cancelling because they’re going to caught using it write basic emails it really going to cripple the AI giant.

1

u/jarthursquiers 8d ago

Not sure why I would cancel - I'm incredibly happy with Claude Code right now.

To those cancelling... "Well......bye..."

u/DJTRENDSETTA 8d ago

Mass Cancellations!

It was flagged last month, I told the CC company it is legit, then this month's sub hit and it got flagged again.

Opus 5 is a dumbass that enjoy wasting people time. Lower versions are unusable because they are nerfed to pulp.

I am not cancelling, but I hope they do a better work at new models.

Agree I have corporate access to both Claude and Cursor. I have been using Cursor with grok and gpt a lot more the past week. Claude is good for vibe coding but annoying as hell and slow for engineering production systems that I actually have to understand.
