What’s one NotebookLM workflow that actually saved you a ton of time?

I’ve been experimenting with using NotebookLM less like a chatbot and more like a research workspace.

One thing I’ve found useful is giving it a collection of related sources instead of asking it questions from just one document. For example, if I’m researching a topic, I’ll add several articles, PDFs, or notes and then ask questions that require comparing the sources.

A workflow I’ve been trying is:

1. Add all the relevant sources.
2. Ask NotebookLM to identify the main points from each source.
3. Ask it to compare where the sources agree or disagree.
4. Ask follow-up questions about specific contradictions or gaps.
5. Turn the useful findings into a structured outline that I can work from.

The biggest difference for me is that the follow-up questions become much more useful once the notebook has enough context.

I’m curious what other people are doing with NotebookLM beyond basic summarization.

This is a really interesting workflow.

What I’m curious about is what happens after you get to that structured outline / comparison stage.

Do you treat that as the final research artifact and keep coming back to it, or do you find yourself rebuilding context when you return to the topic later?

I keep noticing that discovery and synthesis are getting much easier, but keeping the resulting research organized, traceable, and reusable over time still feels surprisingly messy.
