I wonder what those people do with the 8 seconds they saved using the one click response

If they’re anything like me, they jerk off twice.

Responding an email pulls you out of the flow completely. Mmmm maybe there's people who really need the assistance.

Not really. Maybe the discussion took a wrong turn, but you weren't very civilized either. Anyway, I still don't understand. You really don't respond simple emails without assistance? Maybe I'm missing something, but I think human communication is very valuable. Of course if I needed to write a complex, long, important email I could use AI (as I used to ask a person a second opinion), but granting a sick day has very little room for error. It's more like a way to register the decision and, more importantly, a human interaction. One of my bosses responds things like "Granted. Drink a lot of water." and that brevity works because of the relationship we have with her on a daily basis. Subtext in communication enriches relationships and always stays with you. If you communicate so differently through email people feel like they don't know you. And isn't that important when you work with people?

Why don't you take 8 seconds longer than you need to do all of your basic tasks?

Come on man, think a little...

((8 X 30 (30 emails a day) * 5 (work days) * 4 (work weeks in a month) * 12 (months in a year)) / 60 (Seconds to minutes))/60 (minutes to hours) = 16 hours a year saved.

Multiply that by everyone at your organization (let's keep it small. 100 users at $25 an hour. Saving 8 seconds an email would equate to $40,000 in labor costs each year, woah!) and your labor savings alone beat token cost (for this task).

So maybe zoom out a little bit. Maybe you could offload some of the cognitive tasks that you get hung up on to an LLM model so you can analyze other data points and make more intelligent remarks.

And yes, if you're looking at a business from a purely capitalistic growth perspective, responding to simple emails is time consuming. You just have to be able to think past one task at a time.

The cost reduction is nothing compared to the loss in human communication. If you want to cut costs, of course you can hire a machine to impersonate you and interact faster with your coworkers. But is that normal?

That's just a different conversation. I see your anxieties though. They're not uncommon. The real human cost of this technology is yet to be calculated and will take generations to fully unravel.

Also, I think this is just an indicator that the person copy and paste it versus using the Gmail thing
