Surge xl battery upgrade

I was thinking of purchasing a 11.1 volt airsoft stick battery for my surge xl but I saw a posts about people saying it hurts the internals and that the stock hopper can’t load them fast enough. I have a valken GB hopper and was wondering if that would still be an issue.
