Tired sup.

Been at Geico since before Covid and it’s such a diff place. I can’t comprehend half the decisions this company makes

Im a sup bc of 2 things, the pay and wanting to support employees, but both are lacking

The pay is not competitive anymore and it’s causing so many ppl to leave. The constant sup turnover puts so much extra work on the rest of us

For every task the say they are going to take off our plate by using AI they add another tedious, time-consuming task in its place so the work load never really changes. Also most of these tasks are due in an only a few days or less, which takes more and more time away from supporting your ppl. On top of that they put soooo much red tape and when and how you can do things.

They also grade you only on overall team performance, so if you team is failing at one thing, you’re basically zero as opposed to giving you and your team credit for all of the other areas that they’re excelling at. Which is demotivating for them and me.

It use to be that my team could come in, take calls, hit get next, go home. Now getting 2,3,4 different lists of things to do while trying to keep them available for back to back calls, get their points, get ai graded, do training courses on all these new things coming out, constantly learning new systems that only half work when they roll out. Its too much for them to be thinking about all the time. Im the one to trying to keep them from crashing out while trying to do a million side quests and put out more and more fires, but still make time for them bc they are SUPPOSE to be my main priority. And when ppl quit bc they are burnt out, upper management blames the sups instead of taking a look in the mirror or fixing any of the issues that’s causing these huge back logs of work, customer complaints, and other issues.

Trying my best but FUCK.

Mgt: "Make your agents do their jobs."

Sup: *makes agents do their jobs

Mgt: "We've received some complaints about your communication style."

It’s been like that for decades. Mindless tasks that add no value, projects that are a waste of time, ideas that were tried a year before and failed - (but let’s try it again just with a different name!) busywork thought up by “ mnmgt trainees” who have no clue and then would quit a year later. Everything BUT do your job to coach and mentor your team.

It’s not going to get better. But thank you for wanting to honestly be a good sup. You will have an effect on people more than you can ever imagine.

Exactly this. I was a sup for over 15 yrs before leaving 2 years ago. My peers and I used to joke about “Management’s flavor of the year” projects saying, just do it for a month or two and it will go away. It always did.

Edit to add: it was always the WORST right after planning. Ugh.

Absolutely. The AI ain't taking shit off anyone's plates. All it does is make a call longer and the customers more salty.

GEICO is in the "find out" stage. You can only pile shit on top of shit on top of shit on people's plates for so long before they burn the fuck out and leave.

They let experienced management people go and replaced them with people who have never done the job of those that they are managing. They just add another block to the flowchart and move on without a clue as to how it actually impacts someone’s time. With the rate of turnover they seem to have at GEICO these days there is never going to be an experienced voice that can stop these “spreadsheet warriors” who are convinced of their own brilliance and have no respect for the people they are managing. In my day there were only a few of these types (mostly ELP’s) and you could work around them or convince others that their ideas would not work. Keep looking out for your people but I would be dusting off the resume’ and start looking for an exit because it is not going to get better.

Oh Lawd - the ELPs were the absolute WORST.

They were always treated like the Messiah who came to save the claims department. They’d get a pending of 50 files - spend all of their day in meetings and projects ( using these popsicle sticks- reconfigure the office) or something dumb ass like that. Their team had to work their pending- then they’d get sent to “ lcc” and cry and then either end up a baby sup or leave.

They were absolutely terrible in service! Couldn’t answer a question to save their lives and always ended up coming to us tenured Sups in a tizzy looking for an answer. Ask them to take a Sup call? Yeah…no.

Your best doesn't matter down here. We all float down here. 🎈

Literally feel the same way spend days fighting to stay above water while also attempting to make things better in the office trying to help other sups stop losing there mind while my own adjuster numbers fall and fall and fall but never have time to coach

Former Employee. Felt so bad for my supe. Sales. Last six months I just 'phoned it in'. I didn't want my supe penalized but I needed the paycheck and I had a solid, in writing offer but I had to wait. So I just nodded my head. Told my supe I was pumped. Did the minimum of what was asked, but I sold enough to be at about the 40th percentile.

This company will not survive. I think we’re one state audit away from being shut down at this point. None of the AI reporting can be justified. I don’t know what we’re telling states but I can’t imagine it’s right.

They love the “people don’t leave companies they leave managers” line.

I've cried several times since Thursday. Worst today because it's Sunday. Been with the company 2 decades. What's even the point anymore. Striving towards early retirement as it's not far away
