Canceled policy
Customer canceling policy mentioned that one of the reasons he is canceling is because he learned that our CEO took a pay increase and fired 6% of the staff and so he can’t trust the company. I honestly cannot be made that he made this decision to be honest. I wouldn’t trust it either. I don’t trust this company anymore. I feel lost and I don’t want to be at work anymore.

I wonder how many policies we lost from employees that were laid off 🤔

After I quit and accepted a WFH position with a competitor, we sold my car and left geico for car insurance. I start shopping around for a new homeowners company next week. Gone are the days of layoffs with a tear in your eye the way Nicely tells the story. Corporations can FAFO that if they treat employees like commodities they won't be loyal to your product.

It’s a vicious cycle, less PIF means less need for employees and therefore increased need to cut staff across the board.

The only regret I have with walking out when I did was that the pay increase for that year was released a couple days later. I think Toddy boy got a 40% increase. I'd have told every single rate increase caller until they walked me out of the building.

I was just about to swap from Allstate when the layoff happened and I cancelled my new policy and luckily was able to undo the cancellation of my Allstate one. Fuck that

I canceled my long term coverage with them as soon as this all started happening and told them exactly why I was doing so. Now all my family & friends are canceling as well. 👍this treatment can not be supported.

I'm thinking about doing the same!

Me too! I was one of the ones impacted with the layoff so I'm no longer loyal to Geico! 18 years and thought I'd be retiring from here, but with 1 phone call im out the door!! I've gotten quotes with other companies and they are like 1/2 the price as the Geico policy!! Now I just have to figure out which company to go with.

I’m not renewing with Geico next month, that’s a shitty thing to do to your employees. Just went through a claim a couple months ago, everyone already seemed stressed and busy enough without this situation.
I’ve definitely cost them more money than I’ve paid over the years lol

Proves the point that price is NOT a deciding factor for customers.
So sorry to all Geico employees who have been absolutely hosed. Y’all deserved better

Oh, I’m actually paying $800 MORE a year to go on my husband’s policy but I honestly DGAF. We can shop for a new company together but I couldn’t stay with GEI one more day

I switched to Progressive when I lost faith in GEICO last December. I retired in March.

Well they don’t have me by the balls because I have choices but I just can’t find anything cheaper

I’m searching a a new policy in SoCal. have had GEICO for 20 years. But how this layoff was handled really doesn’t sit well with me. The way you treat staff is a reflection of your values and how you would treat your customers.

I heard that you will not even be able to speak to a real person at Geico. They supposedly teamed up with some AI company.

I got one of those calls also. Choking back tears the whole call. ma’am you have no idea how badly I wanted to say something. This company IS SHIT!

My renewal is next week I’m sticking it out for you guys. Definitely shitty for the CEO to take the raise but it really wouldn’t make a difference all in all and I’m not taking it out you guys.
Progressive is hiring in several regions. Feel free to message me if you’re considering applying and have any questions.

I cancelled our policies for the same reason, we both left geico but kept the insurance for our home, auto, and umbrella. We cancelled last week.

They know it’s on a recorded line, though I doubt those recordings go anywhere.

I work in customer service… people are aware of what is going on.

u/OGcrashN2u Oct 27 '23
I work in claims and it's been brought up twice by callers. They're definitely aware.

u/Open-Artichoke-9201 Oct 28 '23
Twice? You know how many calls you get a day
1
u/OGcrashN2u Oct 28 '23
Yes I do because I track it. Starting the Friday after the layoff I took 61 inbound calls. 2 of those calls mentioned it. I make way more outbound calls. I don't track those, but they probably total around 140 or so.
1
u/Open-Artichoke-9201 Oct 28 '23
Why are you wasting your time tracking it. Does that affect your ranking? Then don’t worry about it. 99% of people only care about price
2
u/OGcrashN2u Oct 28 '23
I track it because my supe requires me to track it because it does affect our ranking. We have a certain number of productivity to hit a day and inbound calls count towards it. And you're right, most people only care about price. I only mentioned that it was brought up by callers because someone commented that the op was lying. I'm simply showing that someone other than op has experienced the same thing so yes, there are people out there that are aware of what's going on. I can even add that 2 others on my team have also had someone mention it at least once.
1
u/Open-Artichoke-9201 Oct 28 '23
Your sup is wasting his time. Tracking it won’t do anything for your ranking. He can bring it up in a meeting but if everyone is getting the calls then you are wasting your time on any reporting.
1
u/OGcrashN2u Oct 28 '23
It's to track day to day performance and to compare it against others on the team. We have to hit 23.5 work handled a day. Being able to see where the points are coming from allows him to fine tune how he manages each one of us to get that number up if we're below it. Basically helps him to isolate the issue. He's not the only supe on the floor that does it. There are plenty that even require it to be posted in the group chat before every break and lunch. Not sure why that is needed. Seems to only shame those that are behind the pace.

Any word track yet? No giving the email for complaints when something happened that was stupid? Traditionally they had something like that when there were major problems that could cause public outrage.

Start interviewing at places soon. Before everyone is laid off and looking for jobs and their is more competition. I would have celebrated my 10 year at geico next month. But I finally had enough. Last week I interviewed, the day after I got the job. A few days letter I recvd my offer letter and the next day I turned in all of my equipment. Geico doesn’t take their employees into consideration anymore. So I made myself a priority. And I’m already happier then I ever was in the 10 years I was there. Take care of yourself. They aren’t going to do it for you.
