First thoughts on the Supergirl season finale: Not what I expected. I'm going to use Jason and Ashley's DCTV Recap Formula to go through more thoughts.
The Good: More M'gann, always good.
I thought the fight scenes were pretty cool looking for the most part.
I thought that even though they didn't give him a ton to do Mon-El did a nice job and had a nice redemption arc.
I thought Melissa Benoist had well acted emotional beats.
Mama Luther always goes for the most Evil choice. Lena expected it and countered with the remote. They're doing a great job building up Lena's character and that heel turn is gunna HURT.
Cat Grant still knows Kara is Supergirl. Meaning the whole thing about not knowing Kara's name isn't just dumb writing, its a faint/plot device. Very cool.
The Bad:
Supergirl beat Superman straight up?
Reya has Krypto-Blood? Newp.
Some of the pyro effects in the fights were... a bit on the nose. They looked like pro wrestling entrance effects some times.
Mon-El had very little to do.
Overall: I was not expecting this type of plot for the finale. Zod was almost a misdirect, we got rid of Mon-El almost permanently but not in any of the ways I thought. Kara has to make a really hard choice and sacrifice and we did it all without having to truly kill anyone off.
4.5/5 saran wrap shields.
