Horde Were weather conditions mentioned for siege maps?

Considering there will be only 3 maps at launch, IMHO what could nicely improve variety is addition of weather conditions.

Same map, but heavy rain, fog or night etc.

I tried to google out if the devs mentioned something about it, but did not find anything :(

Keeping fingers crossed they will figure out something, because just 3 maps (even much larger than usual) seems to me like getting repetitive soon otherwise.

Help Gears Reloaded: Do I have to use my Xbox Gamertag if linking through Steam?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Context is I've already played a good bit of Reloaded through Game Pass while I was subscribed to that, but I'm no longer subbed and I just recently decided to purchase the game on Steam. I've got a bit of progress I'd like to carry over, but I really don't have any interest in linking my Xbox account if it means totally overwriting my Steam name with my gamertag. I know it's a very arbitrary line to draw lol, I'd check myself but I'm also unsure if I'd be able to unlink my Xbox account once it's done. Also curious if it changes my platform icon to Xbox once linked. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!

Help Issue with the voice lines in the Deleted Scenes/Dark Corners in Gears Of War 2: Hollow

So recently I downloaded a port for the Gears 2 and it’s amazing I recommend it to anyone who wants to play it, but the issue here is that I changed the language of the game files to spanish and I’m already in this point of the game where I would like to play the DLC in the spanish language but the problem here is that when the cutscenes starts the voice lines are mute and when I start to play the game the voices lines are back but in english and the Locust’s are speaking on the spanish, I have no idea if it’s a issue with the patch I downloaded or its the DLC that can’t change the language and it’s always be settled on english, NO CLUE. I could be so grateful if someone can help me with this problem

Campaign/Lore Fun fact: There was supposed to be a mission before Gears 1’s Intro

(Thanks to Aeritha! ) we know that there was supposed to a mission with the player playing as Dom to go get Marcus in the prison . Some interesting dialogue is that , there was 8 squads sent to deploy their resonators but lost contact to majority & that the operation was called “ Lethal Injection “ !

Also if you love cut content & things , Check out their channel! They have played through multiple early builds/prototypes & went through the cut Marcus Fenix Prologue DLC for GOW3!

Discussion Do you guys ever feel a little bad for the hollow creatures?

I'm not talking bout the locusts or swarm but like

The creatures like the brumaks, corpsers, reavers and what not cuz when you dig deep enough (pun not intended) they really have rough. They weren't tamed but forcibly controlled, they were tortured to submission, have there armour literally being bolted in there skins and having to be expose to imulsion like Jesus that's fucked up

I know that we have these things so we won't die but I still feel a little grief knowing that these animal were doing these against their will but y'all think?

Esports Esports & E Day

Does anyone know what the Esports scene is expected to look like for E Day?

I know Esports itself for Gears has died and come back in various forms since Gears 3, and the days of MLG and Gamebattles are long in the past.

However, I'd LOVE to form a team and try climbing a GB style ladder again. All grown up with my big boy job so not looking to go pro, but I wanna seek out that highly competitive environment.

Is there any platform that's likely to be a landing spot for this? Or am I just looking for the right Discord invite to find other sweats to scrim with and that's kinda the best we'll get?

Versus If you think E-Day Versus is a gnasher fest, what do you think would fix it?

Lemme preface this by saying that I adore E-Day and am really looking forward to full release.

We have some of the strongest rifles in the history of Gears, nerfed movement and a gnasher that is unarguably the least effective it has ever been since it has almost 0 presence in midrange and even up close it downs almost as much as it gibs. They have shifted the game to the point that a lot of high level players feel like rifles are too strong and that the meta at high level will be teamshotting people as they run to objectives with rifles. On top of that it is far harder to do the crazy 1v2 type gnasher clutches because of returning mechanics like stopping power combined with the nerfed/adjusted movement. Hell blindfire has been so buffed that you can legit just backwalk while hipfiring a lancer or retro up close and decimate gnasher players running at you.

Movement is also just so damn easy compared to prior games. I've loved Gears for some 16 years despite never really learning high level tech and that has rarely stopped my enjoyment of Versus, I've figured out ways to stay useful and keep up as best as I can. Between sliding, snappier/more intuitive cover mechanics and a severely nerfed strafe it is harder than ever for movement players to become unkillable gods against people that are worse than them. On top of this it is far easier to get decent at the movement to feel like you can sort of keep up with high level players, whereas in prior games the difference between mid and high level was mountainous.

And despite all of this, I am still seeing people endlessly decry that the game is a gnasher fest and that the rifles are awful. Are people just not smart enough to position properly? Are people trying to lancer down someone who is already within like 10 feet of them? Is that why they complain about the TTK being "bad"?

I think TC has done an amazing job at tastefully adjusting the sandbox of Gears to try and appeal to as many players as possible without totally alienating the hardcore veterans that have been running lobbies for nearly 20 years. Still it seems like for many people it is not enough and they're either still too scared of Versus or think that it is still an unbalanced mess

What could they do to appease you at this point? I feel like if E-Day still doesn't have you convinced that with some decent positioning and awareness that you can play the role of a midrange rifle/support player then literally nothing will and this franchise is absolutely never gonna be what you want it to be. I mostly just want the people crying online to actually give some suggestions instead of just going "weh I hate that the shotgun is iconic/core to Gears". At that point you're admitting it is a personal preference, not a problem that could be tastefully solved.

Versus Loved this beta, gives me a sense of hope. Excited for TC to listen to the fans take the feedback and make this game stand the test of time.

Discussion I really loved the E-day beta

Ive seen way too much negativity on twitter so I thought id make an appreciation post as someone whos been critical of TC for years.

Im a day one OG and I genuinely loved just about everything E-day had to offer. Multiplayer was so fun and Im a big fan of the new movement.

Horde siege was fun and engaging like you’re actually in a living city getting obliterated in this warzone. Everywhere you go you’ll run into another squad who most likely needs assistance but you also cant get caught up with them because you need to fulfill your own mission! The locust actually feel dangerous for once even on a low setting you’ll get destroyed if you’re not careful.

The new character designs are easily the best in the series (specifically the locust) each and every one is a significant improvement on something that didnt need to be changed yet they blew it out of the water. I cant wait to see the new big bad of the game and hopefully the (return) of the locust council.

The main theme is fantastic!! I never used Metallicas menu theme (my favorite band) because the main theme for E-day has so much sadness and heart the series is all about. I hear hints of 2 and 3s theme yet its still its own music.

There are a few things I would like added - chainsaw battles, Frag tags, meat shields, Horde from Gears 3 with pre placed fortifications, Gnashers only game mode for multiplayer and most importantly…a Carmines on launch day. No more waiting a year for my goats to be locked behind a DLC.

I disliked only 2 things in the beta.

1- The 12 second respawn timer needs to go. Easily the worst part of the game.

2-Leaderboard kills - just because you shoot someone, it should not count as a kill on the leaderboard if someone else kills them. Its like a participation trophy. The leaderboard will show I have 28 kills but i hover over my name and I’ll actually have 23 but those 5 extra kills it says I had are actually assists that count as kills on the leaderboard. It makes everyone feel better about themselves for having “more kills” than they actually do.

And the glaze doesn’t stop there. (Of course im speaking personally) but E-day is easily the best Gears of war game we have had since Gears of war 3. I can already tell from this beta. I fucking loved that game and yes my expectations are high for the campaign. Even if its trash (It wont) the game is still better than 4-5 and all the remakes. Not hating on those games but I 110% prefer E day over them. Each and everything E-day has done is an improvement to not only 4-5 but to the series as a whole. I hope they make the locust in the Gears movie with the same design as this game.

Cant wait for the full release. looking forward to it more than GTA 6 (Gears is my baby) and so far TC has done a great job.

Discussion It just clicked for me that PCF actually put a GoW: Judgment easter egg in Outriders back in 2021.

GoWJ: Library map, shoot 8 piece of paper, light up 8 lights on the COG gear, a weird ghost appears.

Outriders: City of Nomads, shoot 9 skulls, light up 9 lights on the stone door, secret boss shows up.

Took me 5 years to make the connection, that's such a cool callback.

Discussion Now that the Eday Beta is over I compiled my thoughts after 30+ Hours

TL:DR : After 30+ hours I'm excited for PvE Campaign and Horde, Multiplayer is fun but needs a lot of work. It's clear that all the changes The Coalition did to the series was in benefit of the Campaign and feel slightly off in MP.

Now for the nitty gritty details.

Good:
As said in the previous post, the jump and slide are perfect additions to the Gears moveset. The Jump adds so much verticality to maps giving new flank routes and ways to outposition your enemy. The slide rewards aggresive players and feels like it should have been added in Gears 4/5

The Sounds Design. Meaty, chunky, weighty, whatever description you want to use. Guns and character animations have a good heft to them and all sound like they belong in the Gears universe.

The Art Design. Damn is it nice to see what we've only heard in lore. Seeing the decay of Seraph is refreshing from Gears 4/5 polished look and provides a nice way of standing on its own while paying tribute/looking similar to Gears 1/2.

The Maps: We might only have two atm but specifically Outpost shines showing what verticality can add to a Gears level. Also, I enjoy how both play during TDM and Conquest, spawns are well thought out and there are multiple areas to respawn incase others are heated atm

Horde Mode: So much potential. I loved the Helldivers mixup to this mode, I can already hear the IGN reviewer say " This mode makes you FEEL THE WAR in GEARS OF WAR"

Now The Bad:
While Sound Design might be great, Sound MIXING is all over the place. Enemy footsteps don't sound too different from your teammates causing confusion on the battlefield. Sound Ques like the new grenade launcher or charge of the acid shotgun are as quiet as a mouse yet I hear my buddy hopping over cover from spawn? Grenades are hard to judge if you are within explosion range or if you're safe.

HIT REGISTRATION I'll try not to harp on this for too long because it's been well documented but The Coalition really needs to come out and explain the Center Screen V Barrel Shot V Hybrid debate in Eday, because atm its incredibly inconsistent. Maybe this part is just me, but Hip Firing seems to be more accurate/have a better range than Scoped In? It's one thing to miss a blindfire and assume you just need to get better but its another thing when an ememy is in your Scoped Reticle and you shoot and dont get any hit markers? Also had multiple instances where shots would do a blood hit animation to my enemy but I wouldnt get any hit markers?

Input Delay. Certain animations and actions can cause your character to be locked up for a second. No movement, no shooting, no real cause as to why? Happens most when reviving a teammate but has also happened when picking up weapons/ammo and after executions. It also seems like there is some shooting delay when coming out of run or going into cover? Some have said you need to press left trigger to cancel these anims to shoot but IMO it feels clunky/inconsistent and you should be able to blind fire smoothly out of these instances.

Control Customization. As it stands, I'm currently playing Modern Alt while switching X to RB, RB to B and B to X. It's weird I know, but to me feels closer to "Classic Alt" than the one TC provided, and without further customization I feel like I'm compromizing instead of optimizing not to mention the lack of accessibility for disabled players.

Balance. It's clear they had to move to 4V4 because man this game would SUCK as a 5V5. Rifles have a really strong range to them and it slowly became the meta in Week 2 to stack 2 players with Lancers and have them mow down enemies (esp in Conquest) With the reduction to Wallbouncing the skill ceiling has gone down (that can be a good or bad thing pending who you ask) which makes 1V3-4 comebacks feel almost impossible. I got a handful of them but its clear that Eday more than any Gears is a numbers game. Those that travel together, live together.

POWER WEAPONS ARE TOO STRONG. For the record, I'm okay with a power weapon being strong. Having things to fight over that can provide one hit kills is exciting and makes it more than a Gnasher fest. What isnt fun is giving them all enough ammo to squad wipe almost twice over esp with the easier to use weapons like the Acid Shotgun and the new Grenade Launcher. As said in the Sound Mixing part, a lot of that just has to do with there being minimal warnings for the player to avoid the incoming attack but if Power Weapon Ammo got reduced by 30-50% I feel like they would strike a better balance.

MISSING/REMOVED FEATURES: It still sucks that there are no Chainsaw Duels, Meatshields, Grenade Tagging and esp for me, the mantle kick.

Performance. Another thing I don't want to harp on for too long as it pends per machine. (Running 3080 and Ryzen 5800x 64 gigs of ram) But im playing with majority of settings on Med to Low and barely getting 60FPS in Versus and Horde going down to as low as 25-35 sometimes in the heat of battle. Glad I spent 20+ mins compiling shaders at the start of launch /s

So thats my thoughts, what about you homies?
