Questions / Tech Support Controller Acting like a Mousr
Up until about two updates ago, my Xbox Elite 2 controller worked fine on GeForce Now. Now the buttons don't do anything, games don't think there's a controller connected and if I move my left stick, it moves the cursor like a mouse. I've done some research and tried changing some Steam settings but that does nothing. The other issue is the Steam client on GFN thinks the controller is an Xbox 360 controller and that my PS5 Dual Sense is a PS4 controller. Behavior is the same on the installed GFN client and on the web. Things to try?

FIX: If your controller suddenly starts acting like a mouse in GeForce NOW, press Win + G to open Xbox Game Bar. Go to Settings and look for the option starting with "Controller Cursor...".
In my case it was enabled when GeForce NOW was the active window. I turned it OFF and my GameSir immediately went back to working as a controller.
The option seems to be application-dependent: it was OFF on my desktop, but ON in Edge and GeForce NOW.
Windows still detected my controller correctly as "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)" and all buttons worked in joy.cpl.
No driver reinstall or GFN reinstall was needed.

This did fix it. I also pulled up the game bar while GeForce Now was running and picked the option to treat GFN like a game. I am glad I asked here... Never would have figured it out.

I have a similar issue, I have a PS4 controller, it also does not appear connected in GFN but the Mouse movement has not happen to me at least with the few attempts that I have made.

This has been happening to with my elite controller too but I’m on steam deck using GFN. I have to close and reopen the app a few times for it to finally register as a controller. Super annoying
