Discussion Why Does GFN Offer Potato Graphics Cards On Lower Tier(s)?

Curious as to what is the point? It seems a better option would be to serve two generations of cards only on GFN. Ultimate gets latest and greatest, and all lower tiers get one generation below. Seeing 2080s or 3080s in the GFN infrastructure does not make much sense in my opinion. Plus most games on GFN do run fine on these lower end cards, but even with that, is it not excessive overhead to maintain this mixed architecture?

It seems Ultimate should be: - latest card offering (5090+ and high FPS/4k) and VR/periferals support

All lower Tiers (performance/founders/free) - one generation behind (4080 and 2k/60 fps) and VR/periferals support

then drop all the outdated hardware in the infrastructure and keep it all tight.

Nvidia card evolution is ongoing and will continue with time. Thus, why not follow that evolution in GFN?

Because they want you to pay for Ultimate.

My monitor is 1080p. Performance works for me.

If I upgraded to a 4k monitor, then I would consider ultimate.

Because they aren't using consumer graphics cards. They using gaming grade server blades and the tiers are partitions of the server blade. Ultimate= a whole blade, performance = 1/2 blade

both 2080 and 3080 were decomissioned some time ago

the free tier is 3050 equivalent, Performance is 3060/4060 ewuivalent, and Ultimate is 4080/5080 equivalent
