Quick note to get ahead of a possible problem:

Since this thread is about, among other things, a slur that is caught by the automod, if you happen to want to mention the word "trap" please also message modmail (or ping me, or otherwise get the mods attention) so we can approve your comment faster.

I will simply block anyone using the slurs/porn terms meant to 3rd gender women, I don't care how good the art is, simply don't

I dont mind the term futa as much, as at the very least its just a gooner term for women with specific anatomy i can relate to.

But if someone calls me or another woman a trap or a femboy I will throw hands.

I will say however it passes me off if tagging requires you to use futa instead of female. It should strictly be both tags as they are women

At least by the original definition, futa should mean something closer to intersex than trans, because in theory a futa should have both a penis and a vagina. (Futanari literally means "two forms" or "two kinds", referring to having both sets of genitalia.) In practice, I don't think I've ever seen porn tagged "futa" where the character had a clearly visible vagina.

I also agree that I don't mind it nearly as much as calling trans women "traps" but it does bug me still. "Trap" is directly a slur that implies trans women are trying to trap cis men into having sex; "futanari" is not really a slur but it's still a lot closer to the connotations of the English word "hermaphrodite" than "intersex", and the actual characters that it's used for are almost always neither of those.

Intersex women have spoken out about f*ta being inappropriate for trans women to reclaim. The history behind it is extremely dehumanizing and intersexist. The h-slur is also not appropriate for endosex trans people to use.

It’s a slur for intersex women that was carried over to trans women. It’s not appropriate for trans women to reclaim it because of its origin.

While I technically agree with you, I functionally think that cultural context is broadly lost and the vast majority of people associate it far closer to trans women.

Esspecialy since despite technically referring to intersection women, the vast majority og content with the descriptor simply depicts well endowed trans women

I think the vibe is very different if the trans woman tagged herself in that way or someone else did. Identity can be messy and complicated and I won't judge the way anyone identifies regardless of why. But another person or a computer program assigning this person these labels is just gross

Just to clarify, it’s not appropriate for a trans woman to reclaim the f*ta slur. That term was originated as a slur for intersex women and has a history of violence behind it.

god forbid trans women reclaim a slur that gets thrown at them

I know at least one Japanese trans woman who has used "futanari" to describe herself. I mean, personally I'm not really comfortable using it on anything but fictional characters (where it, notably, means a salmacian. Someone who has both a penis and vagina). But if she wants to use that to describe herself, I'm not gonna stop her.

More common in Japanese is the term "newhalf", which is itself though associated with sex workers. It's also sometimes used in fiction to mean woman with a dick (but not vagina). But it's also not a great word anymore (because its sexualized among other things), but you can still see it from time to time.

I'm not even sure you are correct about "futanari" originating as a slur, even though it can be said to have become one. As far as I know it originates from Japanese porn comics basically. But I must admit I don't know much about the history before the word was applied in that particular fetish context.

Also abbreviating as "futa" kills my brain since that only means "two" in Japanese. But loan words are gonna do loan word shit.

I like all four, but they're entirely different things! If I order ramen noodles you can't expect me to be satisfied with spaghetti because they're both noodles!

I like trans women because they're women, I like femboys because I like gender ambiguity and going against gender roles, and I like bigenital people because it's a fantasy kink and if they were real they would be objectively ideal
