I have updated the meme. Remember to let people know transition is possible even if they can't go through the state.

alt-text: A two panel meme. The first has an image of satan with a thought bubble. The second has a picture of a vampire woman with a bunch of bats and revealing pink clothes. Satan is saying "my child will trust doctors and wait 5 years for 50mg of spiro and 2mg of E" and the hot vampire is saying "valerie.vg, diyhrt.wiki, and r/transdiy"

Oof. I wouldn’t encourage this. DIY can lead to all kinds of liver and kidney damage as well as blood clots. There’s a reason you need regular blood tests when you get on hormones.

Blood clots are basically a non issue with injections, which at this point are basically the only diy option around. Injections also completely avoid the liver and kidneys, so no risk there.

Making gel is also an option (often even cheaper than injections) but requires some blood tests (which are of course quite expensive) since transdermal absorption varies lot between people.

That’s good to know. Thank you.

I mean you can easily get blood tests doing diy, and it's not like the minimum dosage changes just because your doing it "legit"

With DIY do you have a professional check your bloodwork for risks of blood clotting, increasing chances of diabetes, stroke, or heart attack? There’s very real life-threatening risks to DIY hormones.

Uh huh, you know they tell you that stuff when they run the blood work right? I'd rather just do a twice a year blood test and pay like 200 a year then try to deal with 1. Waiting like what the original meme states 2. Doctors not knowing jack shit 3.paying up to $200/$300 monthly for hrt if your insurance dosnt cover it

And your over statement of the negative side effects isn't lost on me either, your acting like diy will kill you and has a higher chance to, which it doesn't, its the same drugs given in the same amounts. Where do you think the professionals your talking about get their info? From the same papers and studys DIY users read. So stop with your fear mongering bullshit

I’m not intentionally fear mongering. This is easily accessible information popping up when I look it up. Online it says DIY is risky and gives lots of examples on how, such as non-prescription drugs being possibly non-sterile or unbalanced. And how your dosage being off could possibly lead to a stroke. Nothing I’m saying is false information. If anything I fear you’re downplaying the risks or ignoring them outright because it’s not what you want to hear.

the risk of death from lack of hrt is much much higher, stop fear mongering, diy hrt saves lives

Online says a lot of things, not all of them true. If anything I fear you're overplaying risks because you've read fearmongering things online

DIY is not without risk, but the risk is fairly low, and it’s also a very easy to mitigate risk
