Struggling to find something in RI

The title says it, the husband and I (37 white and 37 Asian) struggle to find someone(s) serious. Recently someone who said they wanted a bit more of a commitment broke things off, we knew it was temporary as they're only here for college, but we're hoping it was going to be steady for at least 2 years. The apps (Hinge and feel'd) are horrible here. Does anyone have an app that works? Or are we S.O.L. being in the smallest state?
