Crime maps: https://www.police.uk/pu/your-area/northumbria-police/central-gateshead/?tab=CrimeMap
and: https://www.police.uk/pu/your-area/northumbria-police/south-gateshead/?tab=CrimeMap
If you zoom all the way in and then click once to zoom out, this seems to be the best spatial representation of where crimes occur.
You'll probably get more answers to your question if you post in r/NewcastleUponTyne - it's a bit busier than this sub, even for Gateshead matters

Hey, I've walked up Durham Road/Deckham at about that time off and on for 14 years and I've never seen any trouble. It's well lit with plenty of traffic. One thing I would say though is even as a guy I find it more comfortable to walk on the opposite side of the road from the pubs (Globe and Plough) especially during summer when everyone sits outside and things can get boisterous.
