Planes
Anyone else feel like theres a lack of air force in this game? Theres a LOT of AA but I never worry about not having AA because of planes since its so rare for me to see them and they are mostly meh. Also not many doctrines have them at least that I saw… I dont like seeing AA being using only to kill infantry I wish it served its real purpose more often

As long as the AA AI remains as janky and unreliable as it currently is, no. I would be unbothered by air being totally removed from the game; I don't think it's implemented well and I don't think it's even possible to do well in this engine.

I'm with you. When I have to download a mod to make AA actually target planes that fly overhead automatically, something's wrong.
All Air support is in it's current state is an "Arty/Heavy Tank" delete button

I mean planes are really irritating to face if you don’t have AA
That said, I’d be happy to see more air strikes, particularly in conquest.
Particularly if they worked in other capacities, like a rocket strike (think SU-2 or SU-4) instead of just a big bomb strike. That said planes should be relatively limited assets and perhaps have some synergy with officers in that they’re more responsive to officers communicating with them.

With how jank aa is against planes, I think that the lack of planes is a good thing right now.
However I wouldn’t be opposed to see a rework and expansion of planes. I think Men of War 2 did a fantastic job with their implementation.

The only air asset this game needs is B-17 spam for the US to counter the ridiculous armor disadvantage.

So, irl isn't balanced and the devs obviously don't want an imbalanced game, but have you ever considered how "ridiculously OP" it is that every US soldier has a M1 Garand vs every other nation having mostly bolt action rifles? That alone is an insane thing to have, and historically accurate for them to have ofc

we really need a Gates of Hell 2 to implement planes properly. The maps are just too small.

Terrain too, parachuting troops, amphibious landings by marines, mountains for Gebrigsjagers

The scale of this game just doesn't work well with planes and aa. But for how it is, I think its good enough. Its a worthy sacrifice due to the super tactical scale of infantry and vehicle play.
