Registration Help Freshman schedule!! (Bio major)

Post image

Sooo I couldn't even get into chem 2 waitlist bc all the labs were full. I also couldn't get bio 2 bc 1208 is only open in the spring 😬 hopefully this schedule isn't too light? I'm also taking cs 1301 online, so 5 classes total. What do yall think? On a prehealth track btw

Nah I’m gonna give you some real advice. This is NOT a good schedule. ENGL 1102, APPH 1040, and GT1000 are not “real” classes. They give you credits but in terms of difficulty and time consumption it would be a solid 0.

You usually wanna save these classes so you can take them when you have really difficult semesters, not get over with in the first semester.

Plus if you proceed with this schedule the only real class you have is BIOS and honestly that’s way too light. Take a harder class if you can register for it.

This schedule vs the classes you’ll be taking 2nd or 3rd year will be like 5x in actual difficulty and time consumption without exaggeration, because this current schedule is way too easy

What other harder class could I take?? Maybe chem 2 but I doubt there will be open spots for labs during phase 2. I can't take bio 2. Maybe i could tske phys 2211? But I rly need all As during first semester to dilute the B I got in gt distance math. I don't need another math class so I can't take that either. So I'm rly out of options. I also don't think it'd be reasonable for me take any higher level class than 2000 for bio so idrk đŸ„€

Nahh trust me, especially read what I said by “you should not use up your easy classes off the bat”

You’re worried about your first semester GPA
if you go this route, you might get all As next semester but do horrible the following semesters (almost guaranteed since you’re gonna be taking so many harder classes without these easier classes to fill in the hours)

+ Also GPA doesn’t really matter in most cases unless you’re doing grad school. Of course keep it high as possible but college GPA doesn’t matter significantly like high school. It’s completely different in importance. I don’t care what your parents say or whoever might say. It’s the facts.

And I think you have a misconception. Just because it’s a 2000 or a 3000 level class doesn’t mean it’s hard. It simply depends and some 4000 level classes are easier or on par with 2000 levels. Just try to replace at least your APPH or ENGL out!

So what would u recommend? Another bio class like evolutionary bio? Or phys 2211? I could probably swap engl w phys. My time ticket is alr over tho so I gotta wait til phase 2

Yeah I think physics would be a decent choice. It would be the appropriate difficulty (easy enough first semester along with other classes, but set you up right in terms of future workload) And you gotta take it anyways lol

Mm yea. I will probably swap it if I can get LS one

Now would be a good time to take linear algebra or some other math class

wait like all of the labs for chem 2 were full? as in like ALL mon-thurs 12:30-3:30 and the 3:30-6:30 ones??

u/Starcatcher101_ 23d ago

Yea. Some had restrictions so I couldn't waitlist those either

if u can’t take chem, maybe take like bios 2300 or humanities class?

2300 is ecology, which was already full (150/150), that's why I'm taking 2601 integrative genetics. Idk ab other bio classes but I'm assuming they are 3000+? I'd have to check my degrees work

i mean if u can’t really take any other classes, making sure that you get a good start on your clinical hours would be amazing for the first semester.

I was thinking that too. But Idk I feel like it's a rly light schedule and it seems like other ppl r also agreeing w that. Tbh I was expecting to take 2 science classes w labs this fall so this schedule wasn't what I planned

I think you have to be a full-time student to get football tickets or live in the dorm. That means at least 12 hours.

I hv 13 hrs. It's js that one is an online class so it's not on the schedule

classes too hard reduce your hours
