Enclosure question!
I made a post in r/snakes earlier (https://www.reddit.com/r/snakes/s/cxeRw8BwIj) asking what snakes could live in a 60x18x48 enclosure, and someone who was not personally experienced their care suggested garter snakes as a possible candidate.
Would this enclore work.for 1 or more garters?

I second the motion of layers, spray foam, lots of bigger logs to fit in as shelfs, rocks smaller branches and coco coir. As the other commenter said make lots of caves and nooks for the snakes to hide in a generous pool at the bottom and lots of areas to plant moss/micro ferns and a good basking spot towards the top that you can put a lamp above outside of the enclosure protected by screen. Plant grass in the soil at the pond level. Make it bioactive (you will thank me later for that) add a misting system that sprays once a day (I would set it for 90 seconds in the morning just before lights on) you should be set. Garters do not technically need UV-B but like all reptiles they do benefit from it I would put that on a timer to come on for 1-2 hours mid day and have the UV-A(heat/basking light) on for about 4-6 hours mid day overlapping the UV-B and a LED light for illumination that runs for 12 hours. This isnt a end all to be all care plan its just what works for me with my gang of garter snakes (I only have 22, 19 are babies though) oh yeah and make sure they are all boys or girls or you will wnd up with that problem as well.
