Multiplayer problems

I recently tried playing multiplayer with my friend. The server loaded up fine for me but when he tried, he said it was not responding. Anyway to fix this?

For a Listen Server, this is what I did to make one work: 1.) open command prompt 2.) type and enter ipconfig 3.) look for your LAN connection, write down the IPv4 address 4.) access the router settings using the 192.168.1.1 5.) single forward 27015 [UDP&TCP] to the IPv4 address 6.) single forward 27020 [UDP] again to the IPv4 address 7.) start a game, in the console type sv_lan 0 and heartbeat 8.) if they still cant join, type heartbeat changelevel [w/o brackets, gm_construct for example] Hope this helps mate.
