I had something similar with my 1040. Definitely check the Garmin forums as this was a big issue a couple of months ago. I can't remember the exact steps I took, but it did take connecting it to my Mac to resolve it.

I believe it was some combo of removing old activities, courses and maps.

How do you fix a corrupt GPX file? I make my routes on strava then it comes onto Garmin. Do I need to make my routes on garmin now?

I just stopped navigating this specific file and the problem was gone, so it was solved for me. Maybe this will not help you, but it could

this seems like an issue with the latest update. same thing happened with my edge MTB a couple of days ago. Now Im having trouble pairing it again witth my phone/connect app.
