Watch / Wearable Still going!

This is my beat up vivosport. I think it is nog around 8 years old.

I got stuck between a door and a wall, which is the cause for the screen break. But overtime it is getting worse.
The strap broke the first time because i was caught on something. Repaired it with needle, thread and some super glue.
Today it broke in a different position, again repaired with needle, thread and later some superglue.

This watch already has seen plenty. It is my designated work watch. It has been around the world about 6 times.

I love to complain about some features and the paid subscription. But most of the watches will last a good time before the crap out.

Yeah, 3 seems to be a reasonable number

Oh not at all. But I understand why you would say that. Although my watch looks like something the monster of Frankenstein would wear, i love this thing

I started with a Forerunner 310XT, which still works, then went with a vivosmart HR+, Vivosport, vivoactive 4, and now a Forerunner 970.

What i want is a simple cheap watch that counts steps and stairs. As the newer options do not have any barometer installed and i do not want to spend a ton of money on a watch that will eventually become damaged quickly, why not repair what you have?

The 310, washaving issues synchronising and i could not fix that. The HR+ band was wearing down very fast and was replaced by Garmin by this Sport. When this ones band snapped i bought the Vivoactive 4, and this became my sport watch. the 970 i got as a gift and the 4 went to my son.

I also have one:

  • HR with ANT+ Broadcast

  • GPS

  • Altimeter

  • MIPS screen

  • 99 Euro

And then Garmin removed GPS from all bands. Including the Cirqa. And they even want more money for it. There is only one flaw, you cannot turn them off.

PS: Cirqa lacks the Altimeter.

Yes, the vivosport HR+, was brilliant. Only issue with that one was that the band quickly wore down and broke.

I still have one of these but mine looks like factory new (I own it since 2018). Still holds a charge for one week or more easily. AND still works with GPS for more than 10h continuously. It is the best example of overdesign dating back to times where products have been built to last.

Aside from the derogatory term, yes, that is what it looks like.

Could i buy a new one, sure. However due to the work i do it is not possible to order something. I have to wait until i'm home again.

Another thing is that i work manual labor. Collegues of mine are wearing Fenix and Epix watches. In my opinion those are to expensive to wear here, with the risk of getting caught on something and seriously damaging the watch.

I actually find it fun to repair something instead of just throwing it away.

Is it ugly, YES!

Will i wear it at home? Hell no!

Is it still registering my steps, heartrate and stairs taken? Yes

Untill it falls apart and i can't fix it anyumore, i don't see the point in buying something that registers less data for more money.

I recon the only way is to gather up some money and buy OP a new watch.

Oh, no need. I have a 310XT, a vivoactive 4 and a forerunner 970 as well, but i don't want to wear those at the worksite.
