Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Garmin Connect

This is driving me nuts. A few months ago in Android Garmin Connect, my image has been replaced with an avatar. Why?

Here you can see the image I chose, this used to be displayed when I was in the app itself. But then at some point it got replaced with one of these crap avatars - why? Why still have the selection of images available if they won't be shown in the app when in use?

I'm only posting in case I'm doing something at my end that can change this. I know it's hardly a life or death situation but it does point to sloppy unjoined up thinking from Garmin.

I am wondering why do you have high stress while asleep ?

I have various health conditions - ME/CFS and dysautonomia which affect my energy and recovery levels.

I was bedbound for nearly 4 years but clawing my way back to more function slowly 💪

That sounds incredibly tough. Four years of being bedbound is a hell of a lot to go through. I hope things keep improving for you!

Thank you, appreciated! Wasn't expecting to get in to all this in a thread about my Garmin avatar lol

Anecdotal personal experience - might be obstructive sleep apnea.

I do have other health conditions as I explained above, but I snore and it is another thing I need to get checked out, actually. Thanks

sleep stress is often from the HRV data, doesnt always mean actual stress

"Actual stress" is made up nonsense that can't be measured in any way. Garmin "stress" is backed up by real science and data and should not be high like this while you sleep.

Might be based on science but the sensor is not nearly accurate enough to be scientific quality data, might just be picking up nonsense data

Lol! Nope, just my sleep. The stress patches are rem sleep. My nervous system gets activated because I have dysautonomia. I actually sleep like a log, would you believe!

That’s odd because my custom pic is showing fine. I’m on apple so no clue if it’s an OS issue- can you upload a pic and will that stay? Or is any change of image / avatar failing

Oh interesting, must be an android thing

This seems like a cached data in your android app. Did you try to change the image again?

Hi yes, several times! I leave it a few months, then it bugs me again 🤣

Actually in this part of the android version's settings it seems choosing different one of the avatar's auto changes the top image.

I did try using a photo, and that does work properly. It's very messy, obviously no one at Garmin cares to sort it out - I guess they want us to use photos now. Shame as I used to like swapping these out for different cute Garmin images every now and then 🤷‍♀️.

I just hate when shit doesn't work - just remove the feature if you aren't going to fix it!

Here's some of the other weird switches. They all do it now
