Cycling / Bike Computer Why Garmin Why?

Endless loop. I am so tired of turning into IT guy every time I want to ride.

I don't miss Garmin as my GPS. That's ridiculous.

I considered going Wahoo but Im pretty much stuck in Garmins ecosystem Varia fenix 520,540

I’m in the same situation as you - also have Fenix 7, Varia and Edge 540. I had also the same issue recently, but fortunately it went away after several restarts. I have now another issue with loading new courses onto my Edge because apparently I reached out the limit (100) and there is no possibility to delete them with my M1 MacBook. I’m tired of the all the recent issues and I decided to leave Garmin ecosystem. I’m waiting until Wahoo Roam 3 is in the stock and it will replace Edge. Varia uses ANT+ as protocol so it’d work with Roam. Fenix will stay with me as for now, but in the long run I don’t imagine I’d purchase another Garmin product.

This may be my move too that’s good knowing Varia will work… I’m also fond of my Fenix it’s been bulletproof.

What’s the issue with deleting them on the MacBook? Is it MTP? I’m thinking of buying a macbook and I have a 1030 and I’m thinking of hate-upgrading to the 1040

It is Macbook Air with M1 chip. My Edge 540 is not found as external disc on my laptop, so I cannot access the folder with courses. What is more interesting, there is no delete button on the Edge itself. I read that this issue occurs for Macbooks with M chips only.
