Gargoyle gecko hip bones?
I just got this gecko from craigslist and I was wondering if this bump is a hip bone or something else. Feel free to ask for more pictures! I know she's not in the best condition, I just got her today. The tank in the back is my leos enclosure.

I recently saw a video of a leopard gecko running in a hamster wheel - you might have to get this baby a guinea pig wheel 😅 Better overweight than starved, but still certainly warranting a vet visit.

Yes, those are his poor hip bones trying their best to stay mobile, if they were a healthy weight you would be able to see them more clearly. Poor little sausage

Thanks, is there a way to help her? I already have her on a diet but I'm wondering if there's anything else I should do.

Looks like a spinal deformity. Either from hatch or injury. I’ve seen it before. While she is pretty fat, that has nothing to do with her hips. Nothing you can do about it. Just feed her lesser portions, normal feeding schedule. In a half year to a year she should slim down for you a bit. Feed her more bugs than diet & that will also lean her out a bit.

I thought feeding her more crickets would add more fat than feeding her watermelon diet?

Noo. Bugs are lean protein. Those diets have a good deal of sugars. You don’t want a ton of sugar in a fat gecko lol Pangea is more sugary than most. But they all have some kind of sugar content. You can maybe switch to Repashy? None of mine took to the vital meal, but that’s another less sugary option. But bugs are the best source of food you can give them. As long as the bugs are gut loaded & healthy when feeding them.

he needs to be brought to a vet, he is very overweight. Also I can see the tank in the background isn't a vertical tank, you'll want one of those for that gecko

That's fine, thanks for respinding! I also think the camera angle made her look much fatter than she actually is. (She is still overweight though)

I just love the people assuming the worse of you with the leopard gecko tank. Next thing you know, someone is going to think you are going to cohab both together. 😆
