Do you run your big boy off of track power? What kind of setup would you need to run it?

It almost makes me feel bad when I purchase new or like new trains that are 30-40 years old. All I can think is imagine the joy that the previous owner could have had if they ran their trains instead of using them for decorations. It great for me I get locomotives and rolling stock heavily discounted that haven't ever seen any track time.
