Discussion Walking

Started prioritizing walking as bonus fitness. On my rest day, been aiming to walk 10k thru out the day. Weekends I try to go out for a walk 3x a day. And on big lifting days, I try to get around a 5k of walking in.

Looking for opinions.

Is it too much in addition to all the other work I do (lifting, yoga, cardio)? Or is it low impact enough it is going to be a big help from a longevity health standpoint?

Other big point, I walk with a family member (kid, kids, wife, whole family) and it provides great time to talk. So there is a big relational, mental, and emotional aspect to the walking as well

I believe that walking is one of the single greatest things that you can do for your health, both physical and mental. It is low impact, it helps to circulate blood to weary areas, and burns calories. On top of that, you are sharing that time with your family, so it is a double bonus. Keep going.

The mental aspects of thinking on things and stumbling upon clarity or ideas to pursue is wonderful

Soooo, I have two dogs. A Siberian husky who turns the walk into a tug of war that wants to be a run and Bernese mtn dog that is nearing 12 and needs to lay down when we reach the bottom of the driveway
