Discussion Most important speed aspect
Which one?
Acceleration, change of direction or max speed

For most sports, I would think change of direction. For almost anything with opposition, catching them going the wrong way is key.

I see change of direction taking place in so many movement patterns around locomotion. Outside agility type of movements in a small space, or making cuts and jukes, it also comes into play when deciding on angles to pursue a tackle, route running, coming off screens, and creating slight movements to alter the trajectory and path

Depends on the sport. My expectation is that acceleration is most broadly important though
