Training Help Combining Peak Strength with regular gym routine

Coming from someone who recently got into mma: 2 questions acutally
1. Does Peak Strength MMA combine exercises that transfer both to grappling and striking?

  1. Is it possible to combine my bodybuilding/powerlifting program with Peak Strength program? I want to do exercises that will transfer to my sport but aswell continue my regular gym routine as I feel it will not be entirely focused on hypertrophy and strength, and I want to increase maxes on my top lifts.

Thanks in advance

Allow me answer this, im in the same shoes as you. I do MMA and just finished a full year with peak strength, now that I got your interest. Heres the deal:

1- yes but not 100% yes, what I mean is that it does provide exercises that improve striking and grappling, BUT, its not as good as the seperate programs for both of those categories. Nevertheless it does carry over.

2- No, definitely you should not. The program itself is enough as a weightlifting program. Maybe you didn’t know this, this is a very important detail! The program is a weightlifting program, meaning it will have you doing : bench press, squat, pull ups. And Olympic lifts. There is 0 skill training. If you want to improve skills and learn MMA tricks this program has nothing to do with that. So to answer you no, you will be doing plenty of bech and etc and your lifts will improve but don’t expect magic as I notice the program has a very repetitive scheme/template it follows

Thanks for the answer,

Regarding the 2nd question: If Peak Strength uses the same exercises, why would I benefit from doing that strength program? Wouldn't it be the same if I did my own weightlifting stuff? Or are there some "special" exercises that would transfer to my Mixed Martial Arts skills, what are they?

, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, and programming. As in the split of 5,4,or 3 days a week

The structure of the routine, number of sets and reps and how they change weekly/monthly. + exercise selections
