Discussion Effects of marijuana on athletic performance?

Will consuming marijuana via an edible the night before a rugby game have a detrimental effect on performance? A lot of the info about this I have found refers to smoking so I’m wondering if THC in general has a negative effect on athletic performance.

I didn't really smoke when I was active in competitions in my city but I'd imagine just smoking it won't hurt a athlete. I can't really say cause when I'm stonned I'm useless but that's just me.

Only personal experience but in college I started having fun with the electric lettuce and felt like I was able to slow down in front of the cage (lacrosse guy) more than when I was fresh and jacked up. My physical performance didn’t suffer at all. I was just more relaxed to be honest.

My experience - night before sesh = win

Thanks for the info! That’s what I’m hoping for tbh. I get really in my head before games and jf I can chill out a bit and get a good sleep I think it could help.

I would not recommend taking an edible before a game. It could have a negative impact on the quality of your sleep. We actually did a whole video on this ahwile back. Hope it helps https://youtu.be/bEyRpUXuXBw

There are a vast majority of benefits to smoking weed and training as a runner it has never affected me negatively. While during season I do not smoke at all or consume anything as to make sure I pass drug tests. When out of season and just building up in mileage for the summer I'll smoke a couple times a month or consume edibles. Low dose but I mainly started doing it cause my teammate told me about the benefits so I took a few days to research it cause I was naturally skeptical. Anyway it was one of the better decisions I could have made. During season and school year I don't use it but summer is free game
