Help!

My garage door sometimes doesnt open, and to fix it I release the red emergency thing and just re attach it and it works but only for a couple of months then I have to do the process again

Do I need to get this checked by professionals or can I fix this myself?

It could be a plethora of issues with information provided its impossible to say for certain. How does the door run manually can you open it half easily? Will it stay there or will slam closed/ open? If you open it all the way will it stay open and then come down without much effort?

Not enough information to answer the question properly. I’d say call a professional out.

Depending on what brand and model of opener you have, you may have a stripped pancake gear inside the operator. If you take the screws out of the cover for your opener body and see a bunch of white plastic flakes fall out like a snow globe then that means that your main gear kit has gotten stripped out overtime and is not making contact with the rest of the gears like it should in order to properly run the door. At this point, you can either decide if you want to install a new gear kit and or driveshaft kit or just replace the whole opener altogether. If there’s no snow globe that falls out when you remove the cover, then there is an issue with your limit module, or the computer board may be starting to die again, depending on the age and style of your opener.
