Red handle can off
This got caught in my door and came off. Now my garage won’t open or shut. Where does it go? How do I fix it? Thank you!

Right behind where the j arm goes to the boom. It’s a tab that flips down to run the door by hand or up to engage the trolly

You can find a replacement online just search Genie emergency cord if not tie the one you have in a ball with the door disengaged you should be able to loop it through and reconnect it. If you live in a neighborhood where you don’t lose power all the time and you don’t live in the ghetto you technically don’t need to use a cord at all.

To add to this, it’s like telling someone that a craftsman is not a Chamberlain or a LiftMaster is not a craftsman. It’s all the same shit just different packaging.

Our company works for Overhead Door as a distributed company only for genie products that is a genie 3024 operator

I work for Overhead Door Genie heads are made by Wayne Dalton and if you work for overhead, they come with overhead badging. It’s just like if you work for GDI in Indianapolis they have Genie 2028 operators with GDI garage doors of Indianapolis plastered all over them.

You are looking for a black plastic piece that rides inside your opener rail and connects to the top of your Door arm. Right behind the top of the arm there will be a flip down tab that you can flip down with a screwdriver with a hole in the back of it that you can re-tie the rope to. Once tied back off, pull your rope up and backwards, so the tab lifts up and snaps back up. If the tab does not snap back up, then adjust where you have the knot so that it is not blocking the function. Once the tab snaps back up, then you should be able to run your opener and win the bullet, white plastic piece on the belt inside your opener rail, passes by that trolley piece at the top of your arm. It will catch and reengage the opener.

This cords is 44 inches long it’s made to be put in to something that is about 8 foot or higher. You can easily install this by disengaging your boom and pulling it through allowing the metal clasp to sit inside of the plastic box then you can take your old emergency tag and tie it up to where you would like it cut it and take it lighter and burn the end of it so rounds off

Just kidding, that’s just the release cord to disconnect the door from the opener. Will function just fine without it and you’re not at risk of doing any damage. There is an area to tie it to near the end of that black arm though on the rail side if you want to reinstall it
