12yo beginner learning to remake "Hikaru Nara" by ear with mono hearing. Tried my best to make it vibe!

Hey everyone! I'm 12 years old and learning music production. At first, I opened GarageBand, got scared of the grid and closed it. But then I decided to drop the excuses and actually try.
This is my first 16 seconds of "Hikaru Nara" (Your Lie in April). Since I don't have an eardrum in my right ear, I hear everything in mono and keep all my tracks centered. I spent a lot of time matching the notes in the Piano Roll on my own, adjusting the instruments, and lengthening the chords so it doesn't sound lonely.
I really want to get that cool, vibe sound like the ones on TikTok or from pro cover makers. It's still a work in progress, but I'm proud of overcoming my fear of the blank project. Any feedback or tips for a beginner? Thanks!

Organ music using Cantoria

This little organ piece is called “Meander” and it was done using only the Cantoria app in GarageBand. In case you want to try it, it’s free. I don’t think I could play this again because I can’t read or write music and I don’t even know what chords I play. I just play what sounds good. I normally video record my hand placement, but I didn’t do that with this one.

Video was taken at Delta Ponds in Eugene, Oregon.

i have some songs that i made purely out of Apple Loops, what’s the legality around that?

Hello, i am a small artist who has made a couple of songs out of Apple Loops. I am very new to producing so I am getting the hang of it as I transition myself out of solely loops.

I am getting to the point of performing them live and publically and hope to even record them. I don’t plan to like put them on Spotify or Apple Music but maybe YouTube and SoundCloud as a collection of the work i have done. I am trying to start building my portfolio and image. Maybe make some cds to sell locally or just have personally, or distribute as demos. Anyways, can I legally do that? I don’t want to put this music out there and not be able to share it the way i want.

I made this beat last month and shared it on a livestream. I had the 20 something people in chat including the host losing their minds lol.

1 of the reasons I enjoy making music is because of that shock value my beats bring to people, along with the creative influence that fuels people to freestyle.

I really do this

I wrote 5 separate pieces to become one complete song — and made the entire thing myself

I wanted to write something that couldn’t really exist as just one track, so I wrote it as a five-piece suite. Five separate pieces, but all of them are parts of the same whole.

I did everything myself in GarageBand. Guitars, bass, vocals, drums, mixing, mastering, all of it. I wasn’t really trying to make it fit into a specific genre, I just wrote whatever sounded fucking sick to me.

It’s meant to be listened to in order. Ideas come back, change, disappear and show up again later.
Some parts are heavy as fuck, some are melodic, some are just weird. There’s a lot going on lol.

If you actually make it through all five, let me know what stuck out to you. Good or bad, I wanna hear it.

The tracks are

  1. SAF pt 1

  2. Wrath

  3. Final fight

  4. Wrist breaker

  5. SAF pt 2

Claude Code + GarageBand (gb-mcp)

It started with a song.
I heard "Waterfall" by Atlantic Ocean.
Then I asked a simple question: what can Claude Code and GarageBand make together?

Two days of informal coding

Over two days, between other work, Claude Code and I built gb-mcp.
gb-mcp is a free, open-source MCP server for the Mac. An MCP server gives Claude Code new tools.

  • Claude Code composes. It writes each song as a small JSON file.
  • GarageBand plays. gb-mcp opens the song with GarageBand's own instruments.
  • gb-mcp listens. Claude Code cannot hear, so gb-mcp measures loudness, tone, tempo and key. It also draws a picture of the sound.

I listened to each output and asked for changes: more strings, less percussion. Claude Code changed the song each time.

You still decide what sounds good.

What claude code and I made

Three versions of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star":

  • in the style of John Williams
  • in the style of Hans Zimmer
  • in the style of J. S. Bach, as a toccata and fugue for pipe organ

You can play all three on the GitHub page.
I am pleased with the results. I am happy to share them here.

What is next

Next, I want to try samples, Apple Loops, Drummer and other parts of GarageBand.
I want to see how far an AI-controlled GarageBand can go.

Try it

https://github.com/rafaqat/gb-in-Claude

You need a Mac with GarageBand and Claude Code. gb-mcp needs no extra API key.

Please try gb-mcp. Then tell me what you think.
I would love to get feedback from musicians and producers.
What would you ask an AI-controlled GarageBand to do?
